• What a Tangled Web We Weave!

  She met him over the summer while they both worked at a shoe store in the mall.
  She is very pretty.
  He is nice, smart, and charismatic.
  They started to see each other outside of work.
  Fall rolled around and he had to go back to his university.
  She had to go back to hers.
  They decided to give a long distance relationship a go.
  They called and texted each other all day every day.
  They were in love.
  They met back in their hometown for every break.
  
  They had not attended the same high school.
  The first time they met was at the shoe store.
  She told him her dad killed himself her senior year.
  She told him she was valedictorian of her graduating class.
  She told him she was attending Dartmouth on a full academic scholarship for neurobiology.
  

  He believed everything she told him.
  She claimed to be very shy.
  She liked to do things just as a couple.
  He didn't bring her anywhere near his house for over a year.
  When he finally did bring her home everyone was surprised at 2 things, her beauty and her extreme bashfulness.
  They hung out in his bedroom a lot.

  They continued to date long-distance for a year and a half.
  She told him she couldn't live without him by her side any more and that she was leaving Dartmouth and her full-ride scholarship to join him at his significantly less prestigious university.
  She moved in with him and his younger sister who was also at his same university.

  After a few weeks she tried to get him to leave his sister to get an apartment alone with her.

  His mom, my sister-in-law, started getting mad.
  Financially it works out much better for her 2 children, who have always been very close friends, to live together while in college.
  She feels like something is wrong.
  Her mom sonar is picking up warning signals.
  His mom checks with the high school she attended and learns she was not valedictorian.
  His mom learns also that she did not even take AP classes in high school.
  His mom called the family attorney, that's me, and asked what she should do now.
  I suggested that I should try to find out if she ever attended Dartmouth.
  I found out she was never enrolled at Dartmouth.
  I also found out that she is not enrolled at my nephew's university where she now claims to be.
  Nope.
  They have no record of her there either.

  Me thinks it's now time for nephew to learn a few things.

  He's such a nice guy though.

  My prediction is that he's fallen too deep and he forgives her all her lies.  That's the kind of guy he is.  He is oddly book smart, like a 150 IQ, but when it comes to matters of the heart, I bet he makes a dumb decision. 

  A lot of you Xangans are in college.  I get it that sometimes little lies in night clubs with strangers can be fun.  My friends and I used to pretend terrible British accents and claim to be from London.  Innocent lies.  But be smart about who you date.  Lies and deceptions while dating are odd and can be symptomatic of psycho sickness.  Do a little cursory checking and make sure things add up!    

  Now I think I'll try to find out the details to her father's death.
