  • Love is Abstract

My fellow Americans, since the world came into existence and a rise and fall of nations came to be, we have seen the world at both its highest and lowest points. While we have many more things to rejoice than things to mourn, an equal opportunity is presented in the sense that we must make changes in our world to better the needs of our community, our nation, and that will benefit the other nations of this earth.

Although we do not see it on a regular basis, evils such as abuse, violence, crime, depression, and an economic recession are dominating our societies today. Starvation, homelessness, disease, and warfare are ravaging our streets. Yet, despite knowledge of these problematic issues that we encounter, little is being done to change, modify, or eliminate these perils to humanity. But, these issues can be resolved and overcome with a little thing called love.

The word “love” can be used to describe a plethora of things. For some, love is a strong emotion felt for one’s significant other. For others, the term “love” is used to describe a score of zero in tennis or squash. “Love” can also be used to describe any object of one’s affection or devotion, and some individuals use the word “love” as a term of endearment. In truth, all of these varying definitions and meanings for the word “love” are accurate. Love to one person is different than what love is to another person. We all have our own personal experiences and opinions that form our mindset about what love really is.

Love comes in a variety of forms. There is “Love of a Friend,” which is the understanding and the bond that is formed with two friends. This love is the most common form of love.

Another type of love is “Security Love,” which is the love that each and every individual craves in order to survive. This kind of love envelopes a sense of security, care, and nurturing that each person on this Earth wants.

One other kind of love is “Romantic Love.” This is the kind of love and devotion that is shared between spouses, couples, and significant others. But, this kind of love is sometimes mistaken with love of the idea of being in love, which can lead to miscommunication and can wear off.

Perhaps the most important and sought-after kind of love is “Unconditional Love.” This is the kind of love that lasts forever, overcoming hardships, mourning, and the evils that are present in our society. Unconditional love is what we should strive to experience, and we should try and create these bonds of Unconditional Love with others. We do this by disregarding things such as race, age, gender, social class, language, disabilities, and a person’s place in society that are barriers dividing those who need love the most.

To me, love is an abstract concept, one that cannot be explained with simple words. As Eric Fromm once said, “Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence.”

Wickedness exists throughout the whole entire world. Starvation and homelessness ravages our streets, forcing individuals to cast out their human rights to live in a state of desperation. Abuse and violence are actions that occur on a daily basis, and this is a result of a lack of love for one another. Warfare is dominating the mindset of our leaders today, in an effort to make peace with other nations.

Showing a loving response to these issues will resolve them and bring this wrongdoing to an end. No one person is responsible for showing a loving response to these problematic events. In reality, we all have a responsibility to ensure that our humanity is saved from sickness, starvation, despair, and rivalry. We all must take action. We all must make an effort. We all must change the wrongdoing that is dominating our society today.

These acts of kindness and love will change our outlook on issues for the better. We will have a better system of dealing with conflict, and we can lessen the impact these issues have on our nation today, if not, completely eliminate them from this earth. Without aggression, malnourishment, and conflict, the citizens of all countries will be able to live in harmony and agreement. The basic conditions that we are all entitled to live with would be restored, and this is all a result of just showing a little love to our friends, enemies, and those we call strangers.

We can show our love and affection for others by showing love and affection to ourselves. You cannot love another person unless you love yourself. Once that obstacle is overcome, it becomes easier to accept and show care for others that need it the most. We can express our love by giving aid to those who need it, and going out of our way to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Love is good. Love is fair. Love is just. Love is essentially the answer to all of our problems. By showing love for one another, we can take care of the issues that are in our world, and we will receive a loving response. I believe firmly in the saying that says, “What goes around comes around,” and this is my personal belief about love. What we show, we will be shown. In the words of Arthur Rubinstein, “Love life and life will love you back. Love people and they will love you back.”

What about you guys? Any thoughts on the concept of love?
