His Mom Gives Him "Tickles"
My boyfriend is pretty close to his mom. He's 23, and lives with his parents, which I don't find strange cause they have a family company pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so he doesn't have many options. And, his family's pretty cool, really.
Him and his dad don't have the tightest relationship, outside of work, but him and his mom, well, that's a different story. They're always gossiping about the very strange people who live in the very small town, or talking about work, or talking about....anything really. She's very easy to talk to, I could talk to her for hours, so I don't see anything really wrong with that. But, the kinda odd thing is "the tickles." It's cute, yeah, but I guess maybe I'm just not used to guys being this close to their mom. But, sometimes early in the morning or late at night, he'll go lay with his mom in the living room and she gives him "tickles" on his arms or legs or head. You know, when someone lightly brushes your skin with the tips of the fingernails, ever so gently.... She's been doing this to him for as long as he can remember.
And his mom will sometimes say "you have to tell me gossip if you want tickles." He needs these tickles so much, he'll make up stories to get them.
Well, he's obsessed with them. When I'm with him he'll ask me for tickles anywhere we're at. So, it's not like a jealousy thing I'm feeling before anyone thinks that, haha. I'm honestly kinda sick of giving them to him, but I just love him too much :) And by the way, he's not a frilly little metro looking guy either. He's pretty manly, machinist, who's full of grease all day at work.Do any of you have a "momma's boy"?

Maybe he just needs some affection, BECAUSE he's such a big macho man.
My husband is a Marine, and when we visit his family he kisses his mama every night before bed, and more than once, she came into our room/the room were sleeping in to kiss him goodnight and "tuck him in" He's very attached to his mama. And he frequently asks me to hold him (instead of him holding me.) He's just really macho, and I think he NEEDS a womans affection. My man likes to be tucked into bed, and wants to be held. Your man likes tickles. Its no biggie :) Be glad he shares something he does with his mama with you!That's.... kind of creepy.
I'm disturbed.
I really don't see a problem. Women are allowed to have close relationships with their mothers and no one freaks out over it. I think it's kinda cute that he doesn't care he might look like a little kid when he's around his mom. He doesn't see it as compromising his identity which is cool.
@KristenWolfe@xanga - OK. That is seriously adorable. :D
umm yeah that "tickles" thing is kinda weird... but i dont really see it as a huge problem.
i have a mama's boy and I LOVE it.
my boyfriend spoils his mom, defends her in any circumstance and does whatever he can to make her happy. they say how a man treats his girlfriend is how he treats his mom and i totally agree! i get treated the best! and his mom and i are very close and cool so that makes it even better!
Whoa. This sounds weirder than any mommy issues from "Everybody Loves Raymond."
My boyfriend is kind of a momma's boy, but it's not as dramatic as this.
I think it's good that they have such a close relationship. It's sweet. As the mother of a son, I really hope that when my son is 23 we are still very close. :)
My brother is kind of this way...when he is around our mom he wants her to scratch his back or head....she's ALWAYS babied him but even more since he joined the military and deploys so much. It's funny cause he has a wife and a kid and another one on the way and he's been deployed six times and his job is pretty dangerous, yet he still wants our mom to scratch his back whenever she is around.
I don't think it's weird.....I think these kind of relationships with parents are healthy, honestly.
Now, dont get me wrong, Im not saying that he has any disorders or anything - Im just making that clear before I say what Im about to say.
When I had worked with children whom have autism, I realized how important sensory stimulation is to some people, I noticed the indicators through the children, and started seeing it in the general public outside of the school I was with. A lot of these children, much like children in a typical school needed physical attention OR were adversed to it & found themselves stimulated by another sensory. One boy, about 15 years old needed "squeezes" because he liked the pressure on his skin and was very reinforcing. To some people thats like a hug, some people are auditory and prefer talking in long lengthy conversations and wind down that way, or are visual and take great passion in movies or the arts - diffferent people are stimulated by different things, to him, these "tickles" might seem like a massage. Its just a little weird that he and she call them "tickles". However I dont think the function is too weird, its like me asking my boyfriend for a backrub or something.
lolololol. mommmmaaaa's boy. hahaha.
It is kinda weird for his age. I would imagine something like that to stop at age 11, all kisses and hugs afterward. But what do I know? It's all good because he's only asking you and his mom to do it, not just anyone.
LOL that reminds me of my bf... his grandma used to scratch his back for him all the time.. and she passed away.. so now.. he always nags on me to do it for him..
something about the scratching calms them down.. they're like animals. lol.
My SO is a momma's boy, for sure. She tells me that they used to hold hands when out in public, etc. Some weird shit. He dotes on her and stuff, which is cool. But my SO likes "scratchies" which basically the same thing. Its actually feels pretty good, my mom used to do it to me to help me fall asleep/relax when I was sick. He does the same when I'm not feeling good. :)
the guy im dating HATES his Mother with a passion..
ive heard stories, and i dont necessarily blame him..
but trust me..
i'd rather have a Mommas boy then who who hates his Mom
@salvatruca_stalking_havok13@xanga - Thanks :)
Oh my freaking word! Are you perhaps dating my ex husband??? I could have written this. Everything down to detail is the exact same (except for the town part- we all live in a good sized city).
I had no idea there were other grown men who made there moms tickle them.
Personally I think it's a bit weird- but if my son were 23 and the only way I could get him to acknowledge my existence was through gossiping and tickling; you bet your butt I'd do what it took. :) It depends on your perspective.
My ex was like that, but the problem was he wouldn't work...so that relationship ended..and i am glad
that is soooo wierd I'm very disturbed
@XxFireXboltxX@xanga - Agreed, I thought it was cute.
That's... unusual, but it seems pretty harmless.
I would never again date a momma's boy. What a fucking nightmare. Tell him to grow a pair and ask YOU for "tickles" because hell, you're the woman in his life and you can do it just as good as her.
Never dated a mama's boy. Don't think I can.
Uhmm... Oedipus complex, anyone? no offence, but that's sorta creepy.
It does sound weird, but... We all have our things, if you know what I mean.
@haloed@xanga - he has a pair already.
@KristenWolfe@xanga - lol maybe it IS a macho thing, because I frequently find him laying in MY arms just as much as i lay in is.
@ac_taylor@xanga - Hahaha maybe you're right. I think its really sweet! And I hate feeling.. "needy" all the time. Its nice to feel "needed" for a change. I love holding him, because thats how it makes me feel :)
