The 'ME' Syndrome
Okay, play a little game with me: you meet someone and this someone is great for you in all ways. You enter a relationship with this someone and it is great. Time goes by and hey ho whadya know, your perfect someone turns out to be even more perfect, you have almost everything in common and love all the same things. Dates are perfect because if you want to see 'Planet of The Apes' so do they and when they want to go bowling, so do you.
You realize something along the way, what is this you ask? This relationship is BORING!
You just found yourself in a relationship with pretty much yourself. This is what is called the ME syndrome. The two parties in the relationship have virtually everything in common killing all possible surprises and adventures that you would have had you found someone a little different. Sure it is great to have things in common with the one you love but come on, you can only be enthralled by YOURSELF for so long before feeling like a total douche.
Variety is the spice of relationships. Someone different enough to make things interesting but similar enough to identify with is key.

date someone different than yourself. It may seem tough at first but its all gravy later on.
Usually, when people go to meet someone, their "ideal" person is usually themselves. Nobody really ever thinks about it, though. They just look for someone that they get along with.

how is it boring? relationships are compromises and if you don't get into fights it's great. also, the sex would be awesome. you already know what you like.
Who ever meets someone who is exactly the same as them? I've never met anyone close enough to me in personality that I thought 'this could get boring because we're the same'.

My husband and I are pretty much total opposites, which just works for us. We balance each other out that way.
Hm I do love myself, but yea I see your point, but the relationships I've been in where I knew she wasn't my type (my type is someone like me) turned out to be not so good. So I think people should try dating someone like them and see how it turns out. Cuz I haven't had much luck with those different than me.

I'd probably date myself. But see, the other person would have to be on the opposite emotional cycle of me. So that we can make each other feel better. Is that really weird? Haha

i would never date myself. I'm such an indecisive person, and if i date a person just as indecisive as I am - we would never get anything done
I'm talking to a guy right now who likes 98% of the things I like. We're so alike, but different enough it could work. We came from different social cliques but with very similar interests. I wasn't popular he was...so I'm not exactly dating myself, but damn near close to it. The very few differences that we have I think would definitely make it work.
