How Do You Define Virginity?
Yesterday, I was having a conversation with one of my female friends on the topic of gay and lesbian sex. She asked me, if a person has had only gay sex, will he or she still be considered a virgin? I was confused at her question and did not have an answer...
What's your opinion regarding this? Are gold star gays virgins?

No, if they call it sex then they're not virgins, penetration or no.
But that's my opinion.I think that if someone is defining what they do as "sex" then they aren't a virgin. That's just my view though... Some people think if you only have anal sex, you can still consider yourself a virgin. I think sometimes virginity is just a state of mind. :)
I go by your sexuality.
If you are straight, you are have never had a penis inside you or put your penis inside a girl, then you are a virgin. If you are lesbian and have never been eaten out or fingered, then you are a virgin. If you are a gay man and you have never put your penis inside another man's ass or have one put inside you, then you are a virgin.
Haha. I am pretty simple.
Haha, but I also call people have half virgins, when you done only oral sex. Hahahah.
xo
Virginity implies complete chastity and an abstinence from sex or sex acts. Soooo, by definition they aren't virgins.
A virgin is anyone who's never had sex of any kind...period.
Virginity is just an over glorified term for losing one`s innocence.
I really feel that it is not THAT significant, our society just illusions us to think so.
You lose your virginity when you decide you have, no one else can say that for you.
If they are still virgins, they are the masterminds of surviving a horror movie.
Virginity? Outdated.
@JandJinJapan@xanga - Agree!
the loss of virginity comes from consensual intercourse between a man and a woman. since i'm not gay, i couldn't care less about how they define it :P i'm not sure it could be defined between lesbians since there never is any penetration. makes you wonder about the term itself.
Who cares as long as you have someone you love.
@ccarothers@xanga - @JandJinJapan@xanga - I like your definitions best. I think they are the most accurate.
@JessxMaxine@xanga - "Half virgins" are a cop-out. If oral or anal sex wasn't actually sex, then the word "sex" wouldn't even be included in the title. I think anyone who feels they can indulge in as much of that as they want while still claiming the virginity title is fooling themselves. Virginity is as much of an emotional, mental, and spiritual experience as it is a physical one. Let's face it, anyone who has participated in other acts besides intercourse is no longer naive or innocent the way a "typical" virgin would be.
@sarahzthoughts@xanga - Lol. I agree with you. Which is why I call other "virgins" who has had oral sex, half virgins. It just feel like a rip off to call themselves "virgins" when they aren't.
Just like girls are saving themselves for marriage, but they are giving oral sex left and right. Doesn't make sense.

@JessxMaxine@xanga - I think you still misunderstood. You can't be "half" of a virgin any more than you can be "half" pregnant. You either are or you aren't. If some people use the term "technical virgin" to be more accurate without being too graphic about how experienced they are, that's one thing. But to be "half" a virgin is just ridiculous.
@sarahzthoughts@xanga - I am not confused. I know what you meant. I can read and write. (: I'm telling you my opinion/thoughts, I didn't say you had to agree with me.
xo
@JessxMaxine@xanga - I know you can comprehend what I was saying, I was just pointing out the flaw in the logic of half-virginity.
@sarahzthoughts@xanga - Flaw? As in my opinion?
xo
@JessxMaxine@xanga - Not your opinion necessarily, just the terminology.
@sarahzthoughts@xanga - Yes, but it's my opinion you pointed out.
xo
@JessxMaxine@xanga - Yeah, but I agree with what you said about "half virgins" being a rip off. I just think that term is misleading.
If you think you are a virgin, then you are a virgin. Who am I to argue?
@sarahzthoughts@xanga - Yeah, haha. I don't have the heart to tell someone straight out that they aren't a virgin, so I just go with half virgin. Whatever helps them sleep at night.
Shrugs. People shouldn't be ashamed of what they do. They should just own it, but you know how most people are.
xo
@JessxMaxine@xanga - Maybe it should be considered an act of common courtesy to let a "half virgin" know that that title is a cop-out, to save them from looking hypocritical in front of someone who isn't afraid to call them on it. And if people shouldn't be ashamed of what they do, I wonder why they don't just admit that they're having sex...funny how there's still a tiny sliver of longing to keep one's virginity in this sex-saturated culture of ours.
I consider a virgin to be someone who has never had sex. They have either had intercourse or anal. If the havent been penatrated in the vigina/ anus then I consider them a virgin.
