  • The Frisky: 10 Reasons to Consider Going on a Blind Date

Popular website thefrisky.com recently published an article in defense of blind dating. 10 Reasons to Consider Going on a Blind Date offers counters to the excuses people frequently give for blind dating (mostly the fear that whomever they are paired with will turn out to be an absolute freak.)

I've only been on one true blind date where I was set up by someone else. He was perfectly nice, but not my type. (Ironically, I was into the guy who set us up, so it was going to go down in flames either way.) I've been in other situations where I began dating casual acquaintances, after friends have suggested that we might be compatible, and had good experiences in those situations. Some of the examples The Frisky offers are along these lines, suggesting that other people know us better than we know ourselves.

Have you ever been on a blind date? If not, would you consider it? What kind of experiences have you had? (For the hesitant, consider at least reason number 9: "It is likely you'll get a free meal out of the blind date." For a lot of us in college, the promise of free food is all we need!

I have never been on a blind date or date in my life,  not even speed dating I have done.

i think it'd be really fun to do, but i guess i don't come off as the type that needs a relationship or seems perfectly matched to another person so no one has tried to set me up. haha.

I've never been on one and don't really one to go on, tbh.

Haha, going out with a freak might be fun. If I were single, I wouldn't go out of my way to go on one though.

i think it would be really fun to go out with a freak too, haha. i don't really have any completely out there crazy dating experiences, just bad luck, so it would be fun to have that trump card to pull out when talking about dating.

I have never been on a blind date, and now that I'm married it obviously won't be happening. Back when I was single, though, I wasn't against the idea. Sometimes they go rather well, right?

I have and it just didn't work for me. It wasn't just one, it was a few different blind dates so I did give it a try before writing it off completely.

Not only have I been on a blind date, but I married him!  We've been together over ten years and married for six!

Ugh...I've been on a 3 blind dates in the past. Suprisingly only one was really terrible.

Guy Numero Uno: Major creeper. He was the weirdest guy I think I've ever met. He kept talking about how Michael Jackson had gone with Elvis...when I ask "What?!" He said "You know...with the aliens." I am 100% serious. Then he proceeded to tell me how a ghost named "dudens" had been following him since he was a child. I was sort of mean....I kept making jokes about his ghosts, but the poor guy didn't catch on. I left soon after.

Guy Numero Dos: I went to play lazer tag with and had fun despite my fears of him turning out to be like the first guy. Unfortunately we didn't get to play lazer tag since there weren't many people interested. Two person lazer tag=lame. So we played mini golf instead. When he hit his golf ball off the course by accident and we couldn't retrieve it I said I'd just hit mine as hard as I could in a random direction. My clumsy ass almost hit him with a golf ball by accident, but apparently that got his attention. Haha. [I had total control of that ball of course...pshhh] Unfortunately due to my busy schedule we haven't been able to hang out since.

Guy Numero Tres: I had more fun with than I thought I would. We went to see a baseball game together, and afterwards walked through the park. We were going to play disc golf, but it got too dark. Then we found out the fountains downtown by the river were still running, and we played in them. It was fun! I figured he'd get pissed that he was going to be wet and so was his car, but he said it was the most fun ever. We actually ended up dating for a couple months. We are better off as friends though.

i've been on 2 blind dates lmao
first, i met a...god!!!...how should i say it?
i met a very dirty (as in unclean) guy...
    his teeth were...yellow...like...9___9...eprops...REALLY! ugly!
he had some damn big dark circles too xX
medium gelled curly hair...like a football player...
    DISGUSTING!
    the 2nd was my ex...
the psycho one who told my best friend he will throw himself on the window if i don't answer the phone xX
    SPECIMENS!!!
i'm not a blind date girl no more!

PS: if you plan going on a blind date don't tell him/her how you're dressed or stuff like that so you can run away if you're not satisfied.
