The word on the street is that if a man let's you buy his underwear, you can be confident that
you're the one.
Here's the theory:
Guys usually let their mother's purchase their underwear until around the age of 19. At this point, they begin to buy their own underwear while they are on the prowl for a girlfriend. Once they have found a girlfriend and are in a steady relationship, he hands over the reigns to her and she takes over the role his mother once had: The Tighty-Whitey Purchaser.
If, however, you've been in a relationship with your man for a long period of time and he is still buying his own underwear, you can assume that he is also shopping around for a new girlfriend.
So what do you think? Are you buying your man's boxers? Or does he buy his own. Married couples: who buys the underpants in your relationship?

i dont know who's spreading this "word on the street", but this sounds flat out stupid, and I really dont think this has any relevancy towards whether a couple is legit or not.
my beau and I went shopping together once, but he can spend his own money on those.

Well, I think it's dumb to assume that a man who buys his own underwear after a long time in a relationship doesn't want to be with that girl anymore. I mean, maybe he just likes buying his own underwear. Or it's less convenient for her to do it. Or he finds it unnecessary and slightly strange because shouldn't he be the one deciding on the kind he needs? If he doesn't take time to tell her just what he wants, she could get the wrong size, or something uncomfortable and by that point he may as well have gone on his own.
Wat the hall? He can buy his own pants, how the fuck am I supposed to know what precise cut and brand and blahblah he likes best? I don't even know what kind I like! Stupid pants all fitting differently....

Okay, I read the article and I think you totally misinterpreted it.
It didn't say you're not the one if you don't buy his underwear in a long-term relationship- it said if he's buying more than a normal amount of underwear in a year, he's more likely to be looking at other girls. Stable, happy men purchase less underwear or have someone else do it.

With my most recent SO, his mom still tends to buy him socks and underwear for Christmas so its not like we actively shopped for them, but we have wandered in that direction in Target before and he's let me pick out patterns I thought he would look good in.. *shrug*lmao.. i bought my boyfriend a man thong as a joke last year..

I HAVE bought my husband boxers, yes, but I don't normally, no. He buys his own. He will NEVER buy mine. I would be scared about how that would turn out. :P But I have gotten his opinion on them.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, it's saying if you've been with them for a long period of time and he still buys his own underwear that he's looking for a new girlfriend... not that happy men buy underwear less frequently...
