The True Definition of a "Slut"
Why is it that in high school girls and guys tend to call other girls as sluts or whores or whatever insult that relates to sex? Do they really know what it means?
Slut – noun
1. A dirty, slovenly woman.
2. An immoral or dissolute woman; prostitute.
Whore – noun
1. A woman who engages in promiscuous sexual intercourse, usually for money; prostitute; harlot; strumpet.
When I was younger I noticed that 10/10 times the people that are called as slut or whores are... well virgins. This doesn't quite connect because I thought those terms were used to describe a person that has sexual intercourse with multiple partners. As I enter high school, some people start to lose their V card and this term seems to be thrown around even more often.
What more, I've noticed that whores are people with: make up, confidence, body, attention, fitted clothes
I mean, I just don't get it, why do people do that? If they dress sexually appealing they are dressing "sexy" or "revealing", it doesn't make them a whore. If those people are bitches, then they are bitches, not whores. Why do people say it and genuinely mean it?
Have you called anyone a whore/slut before? Had anyone called you that before? What’s the reason?

I think those words or used to loosely these days, its so stupid.
idk. but i feel like a slut right now.
i've been sleeping over at my guy friends' dorms & sleeping with them..literally. (no sex)last week i slept at J's. this week i slept at S's.am i a slut? :/theres a difference between being a slut and 'acting slutty' i think.
and yes i have called people that, andd they've called me that, just cos we get angry.
One of my friends and me called eachother slut as a joke in HS.
In HS when a bf cheated on me I called the girl he cheated with a slut.
I was called a slut multiple times when I dated my first boyfriend, even though we never had sex over the year and half we dated. And I dress very conservatively and wear natural makeup...
Those were the main times I've used or been called slut. If I see like a sex scandal on tv or something I might be like "Ooohhh slut!" but yeah, never been much of a fan of the word. I don't use it daily like a lot of girls.
The reason is usually not that you believe that the girl is really a slut or a whore. You don't know her sexual exploits, unless there are rumors going around specifically stating word-for-word that she slept with X amount of guys, or slept with them for X in return for it. And even then, rumors are rarely ever true.
The real reason is because it is being used as an insult. A bitch is also a female dog. Women who are mean and nasty are not actually dogs, but people call them bitches anyway.
So, when you hear people calling other girls slut or whore without any basis, they are just doing it as an insult. Or, they are trying to purposely ruin that girl's reputation because they don't like her for some reason. A lot of the time, it is both.
It usually has little to do (barring rumors) with the person hurling the insult(s) actually thinking the girl in question is a real slut or whore.
Although, some people consider girls who steal other girls' boyfriends to be sluts, so that could have something to do with it, as well. Many a girl-war has started up due to some boyfriend being "stolen" by some other girl. When really, you can't "steal" a boyfriend, he knew what he was doing. :p
But, that's getting off topic. :/
when i was 13 and 14 i was called those names and a billion others when i had never kissed a boy, or even been on a date with a boy. i wore a uniform to school so there was no way i was dressing even remotely sexual. i was called those names because i put myself together every morning and had friends that were boys. but its taken years to get rid of a reputation that should never have existed in the first place. i hate those words.
@hotpinkstarberry@xanga - I agree.
I have had people call me both a slut and a whore, which doesn't fit since I've only had sex with one man and we waited till our wedding night. "Bitch", however, could be more accurate.
I used to think the difference between a slut and a whore depends on who controls how many times she has sex with how many. I used to think the whore, which was commonly used for prostitute, is for a girl who has sex with men with less control and self esteem then the slut, who chooses wholeheartedly to bedhop. And the strength, respect, and complete avoidance of those terms all comes in with how a woman carries and presents herself, in comparison to the stereotypical bedhoppers. Same going with a guy who bedhops But now, I guess I got to do some more thinking about them. (shrugs)
Not that it matters about the difference. It's going to remain as ubitquous as derogatory race names. Heck, if ever I use those words, I'll assure you they are not going to leave the bedroom of me and a sex partner.
term of endearment. hahaha.
Anything with a negative connotation is going to be thrown in the mix when people feel like trash-talking.
@asdfghjkieu@xanga - no i wouldnt call that slutty i know plenty of people who do that. and hi lol
its the way society is, we throw words around without actually thinking of the definition behind the words we speak
@alwaysmysunshine@xanga - lol thats kinda the position im in right now, like the term shouldn't really exsist but I can't get rid of the reputation =\
@asdfghjkieu@xanga - haha i like your name. very original.
i don't know, they probably give off a vibe... or others are just jealous and spread dirty rumours, lol. it's high school!
Must I say, I'm sure many people will think my pic is slutty..FUCK IT!!!!
society values female chastity. calling women "whores" devalues them more than names like "bitches." i resent the initial value judgment and the insults it begets.
I've always believed whores throughout history have always dressed in a revealing fashion in order to attract clientele, so I can't really say people are using the term loosely if that's the case. I mean yeah, everyone who dresses in a way that's considered sexy isn't soliciting, but let's be real... there aren't prostitutes patrolling the streets for business in suits and their Sunday Best.
You're all sluts.
Except me.
I'm a Pimp.
@immaairheadxl@xanga - I WILL.
