When is it Okay to Say 'I Love You'?
I'm dating my best friend. Before we dated, we were the best of friends. A rough spot in both of our lives brought us closer, and we eventually brought our feelings for each other to the surface. He and I used to tell each other 'I love you' all the time. Of course it was as friends, but I still have that friend love for him. We still date it, although we've been dating less than a month. I think there's a huge difference between loving someone and being in love with them. We're both comfortable saying it, and feel strongly that we truly do love each other.
Do you think it's too soon to be saying I love you? Are there certain circumstances where it's okay to say it early?

Nobody can really tell you when you can say "I love you" or not. It's a matter of whether or not and when you really do love them. It's that feeling in your heart and soul that causes you to ache but in the way of knowing that you have someone there to share those feelings. Do not confuse love with lust though.
It's situational. I don't think there's ever a "too soon," but there is a "too late." When you know, you know. But don't ever say it unless you feel it with all of your heart, or it'll just hurt both of you.
Wait until the moment when you can feel it - when it's on the tip of your tongue, when you want to say it as easily as 'the sky is blue.' It doesn't matter if society considers it "early" or "late" if it's true.
I almost said it to my SO the other night -
'Hey, you. Yea you. I'm in love with you, you know that?'
- And I've known him for maybe two months, tops.
Love transcends time.
if you feel comfortable, go ahead and say it.
I rarely say it out loud. only when I know for sure that it is love. everyone is different.
it depends on every situation... as every situation is totally different.

I thnk this varies from person to person really.
None of this bullshit. Say it when you feel comfortable saying it. No one has given you a time set to say those three words.
As people said above: It's situational.
You don't need to set yourself a time to say "I love you". That's the stupidest thing ever.
When the other person is ready to hear it.
Say it when you're ready. It's a physical feeling in your gut. My husband and I admitted it to each other after only knowing each other about two months..that was three years ago, and now we're married.
When you mean it, then you can say it.
I was afraid to say I love you to someone once. So I waited for him to say it -__- I was afraid it was too early, but it turns out he had felt the same :) I say go for it!
if you really mean it and you feel it, then you say it. relationships and "i love yous" are like being blind folded and jumping off a cliff hoping to be able to come out at the end. you take the chance and if it's there then it's there. if you're in a relationship, i don't really think it's "i love him more and more" that love should be there.
In all of my most intense and in love times I've had we always said it withen the first month or so. Once as fast as 3 days.
Saying "I Love You" is like sneezing, you don't get to sneeze at anytime you want. There is no timing to mutter out these special phrase, it is the feeling inside that tells you when you should say it, and saying it too often will not make it special. Imagine, the first time i say "I Love You" to my ex-bf of 1 year was the day we decided to break off for good, but that doesn't mean we don't love each other thru out that 1 year. If God gave both of us a chance again, i will still choose to say "I Love You Eric"
I said it to my gf after we'd only been together for a month maybe less. I think it's just whenever you feel like you're in love you should say you're in love.
It took me about two months. It depends on who you're with. I don't know on this one, because I've seen teenagers who say I love you (royally pissing me off) the first day they decide to date, and then they break up a week later and say it to someone else. But then there are those people who really mean it.
You never know, but I guess you'll find out.
....How long have you known each other? Sounds to me like it has been a while. I believe you may have the right to tell each other that if you each strongly believe it. You guys would know best, though. :)

Saying "I Love You" solely depends on when you want to say it and when you feel it. He's one of your best friends, how do you feel about him? (now go ahead and tell him whatever it is you feel about him when you're ready)
With my ex, I waited close to a year before I said it. However I said it to my current boyfriend after about a month. You just have to wait until it feels right. You can't rush it and you can't fight it off. If you truly mean it, I don't think there's a problem with saying it.

i agree with mostly everyone. say it when you feel like saying it. there isn't some sort of magical number of days/months/years you have to wait before you're allowed to say it.
Wait until you know you love him. Why would you tell him you're in love with him early?
