Q. So about 6 months back I met a guy (lets call him Matthew) on Omegle, a chatting site where you can talk to random strangers. It was completely casual and Matthew and I hit it off instantly but we were still only talking as friends. We talked almost everyday and he probably knows more about me than my friends here do. It wasn't until a couple weeks back that he admitted to liking me. I told him the feelings were mutual and we've been "going out" ever since. Embarrassingly enough, I get butterflies when we talk and it's been all sweet and mushy, a totally innocent "relationship" in my opinion.
Here's the clinker: He's 23 and lives in Brazil, I'm 16 and live in California. Yes I know, big age difference, but it's never been creepy to me, and I know plenty of people who have had relationships where they've been anywhere from 2-16 years apart (16 in pushing it for me.). He says he wants to come see me, and I've been all for it, but my mom doesn't even know this guy exists and HIGHLY disapproves of talking to people you don't know (like most parents).
So here's my question: Do you agree with my mom and think that this whole thing is a bad idea and that I should sever all ties, or do you think that this isn't potentially problematic and wouldn't be a problem to continue with it?
