  • Tweeting After Sex: A Do or a Don't?

I came across this article today: A Post Coital Tweet is the New Cigarette. It basically reported on a recent study that found that 36% of people under 35 text, tweet, or check facebook after sex. They also found that iPhone users were three times as likely to do this than Blackberry users. Now while tweeting may be healthier than smoking after sex, I have to say this is a serious don't. Not only does it show a lack of respect for the person you're with, but it also hinders bonding. If you're constantly thinking about something else, what others are doing/saying/eating/whatever, telling others what you're doing/saying/eating/whatever, you can't be fully in the moment. I imagine you're enjoyment of what you're doing is seriously (negatively) impacted by this behavior.

My SO and I are both iPhone users, tweeters, and facebookers--but social networking has to be left at the door at some point. Though I can't say I'm surprised by this study, I find it really frustrating to be with someone who's more interested in the outside world/their phone than me and whatever we happen to be doing (SO or friend). It's important to set boundaries--everyone should unplug for a bit (not just for sleep), it's good to relax and enjoy the moment.

Do you tweet, text, facebook after sex? Have you been with someone who does this?
