Odd News of the Day: Why Women Love Orlando Bloom
Datingish has already asked the question: Baby-Faced or Macho? But now there is scientific research to answer that question for us.
According to researchers, women whose hormones are chemically controlled by the birth control pill are less likely to seek out muscular, rugged men.
"Whereas, they say, ovulating women not on the pill "exhibit a preference for more masculine features, are particularly attracted to men showing dominance and male-male competitiveness and prefer partners who are genetically dissimilar to themselves.Women on the pill tend to pick more effeminate men who look like themselves, according to the study conducted at the University of Sheffield."
What do you think of this study? Do you believe them when they say that the pill has the ability to alter attraction? For those on the pill, have you noticed yourself dreaming about Orlando Bloom rather than Matthew McConaughey?

the study is not true
orlando and matthew are not attractive in my eyes
thats interesting. I find Matthew McConaughey sexier than Orlando Bloom. I'm not really attracted to either men, but I can see their good looks.
Hormonal birth control messes with more than we'd like to admit. Another reason I refuse to take it anymore! :)
However, I'm not on the pill anymore and I still think Orlando Bloom is gorgeous. But I much prefer the masculinity of my husband! :D
hottieslove them both, but i dont know how much i believe the research. I was gaga over orlando bloom wayyy before i got on the pill...
no orlando wins. hahaha.
I'm not on the pill and will still take baby face over macho. I guess I prefer cute things! :)
ahm. no. i dont like effeminate men. before the pill, i fell in love with my bf, with facial/chest hair. i still love hugh jackman and hate fricken nancy "edward" whats-his-face. maybe's just me ... but yeh.
I was attracted to Legolas Greenleaf, not Orlando Bloom himself.
He and Matthew McConaughey are not my cup of tea. Probably because I'm not the pill? :p
I'm not on the pill and i love muscular and rugged =\
uhm. my boyfriend has masculine features before i was on the pill. hahaha.
i don't know..xo
My boyfriend is very masculine and muscular and I was on the pill when we met...
Rumor dispelled.
Orlando is charming.
(Did this study forget about the existence of non-heterosexual women? Just wondering.)
I don't think the pill alters attraction. Perhaps the pill just influences certain women's way of thinking into being more responsible. Both women and men tend to find more "effeminate" looking men to be more responsible then overly masculine men so maybe it's attraction based on perceived responsibility; however, I believe that women will like people who they find attractive. This study might just be applying the data from the majority of women in their experiment to all women and all women aren't alike so results may vary.
Also, I'm not on the pill and I find that neither of these men are attractive. Then again, I don't find men to be attractive. XD
hmm he's ok
I'm on the pill and I'm the opposite- I love masculine men. Of course, my mom likes very manly men, so I might have gotten that from her.
I haven't gone to an IRB or designed any double-blind tests or gotten a degree or actually asked anyone other than myself, but since my opinion doesn't match what the study says, and/or I am an exception to its observed trends IT IS OBVIOUSLY COMPLETELY WRONG!!!
@Kneehola_elbowadios@xanga - LOLOLOLOLOL yay scientific accuracy!!! boo ignorance!!! ;D
I'm not on the pill but I prefer Orlando Bloom over Mathew McConaughey. By that science, I should be preferring the latter over the former!
ACtually, I think I remember hearing the same story but being opposite-women ON the pill prefer masculin over feminine men for the most part.
I'm not on the pill...and I think they're both ugly. But I do find myself more attracted my manly men. I don't see Orlando as being boyish, though.
@LlothoftheDrow@xanga - that probably accounts for all this discrepancy. :P
you know, I was on birth control when I fell in love with my guy and he's way more the McConaughey-type (a bit manlier and sexier and and smarter and awesom-er, though :P)... now I've been off the pill for quite a while and I'm just as much attracted to him as before. Go figure
on the pill, loved Orlando. off the pill, loved Orlando. its all good.
Thery're not sexy in my eyes, but I wouldn't hate it if my sons looked like them. they're not ugly.
lol im not on the pill and i still prefer the picture of orlando to matt
