Perhaps I should revise the title of this post because it won't necessarily deal with sex....but I won't because it's also a Borat reference. There, I said it.
Anyway, I always wondered what music/songs/artists people put on when they think of their special person. I've only had this conversation with friends briefly, and for straight "getting in the mood music" we always arrived at a consensus of Barry White. My personal favorite is "Deeper and Deeper"; not because I find the song particularly romantic, more so because I find the song to be pretty amusing between :40 and 1:00. Although after that its a pretty sweet song if you listen to the words.
I think I find the first minute of the song so hilarious because every time I listen to it it makes me think "Come on Barry, you're not even TRYING to hide your intentions with your girl here". But for the record, Barry White is an amazing artist and this song is a classic. I know most of the readership here is very young so its time I introduce some music-education up in this mofo.
But I digress. What makes people associate songs and/or artists with those that they care deepest about? Is it a memory or an experience they shared with that person while that song happened to be on? Is it the lyrics of that song?
So what is it then? What songs/artists/genres of music do you associate with intimate/romantic moments or people that you care about? What is it about that music that makes you think of Mr/Ms. Wonderful and smile?

You featured Barry White because of Ally McBeal, right? That's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that picture.

"Squeeze Me Macaroni" by Mr. Bungle
"Fuck Her Gently" by Tenacious D
@SeitekiChibiNeko@xanga - If I ever choose Daft Punk for thinking of my girlfriend or for sex, it would be "Digital Love". Hehe!
I don't care which it means. I don't really think of intimate moments to music. I used to be a music critic for a high school newspaper. I get high off of music I listen to. I can't think of my girl or spending time with her in any way, shape or form, when I just heard a bad transition or metaphor in a song. Haha!
I go for Roads by Portishead. It's such a smooth song and it goes on for awhile. I just love female singers because I find their voices to be far more romantic than anything a man could sing. Or Tell Me What to Swallow by Crystal Castles. Because the voice/synth effect in it is purely amazing. =]
"Bump and Grind" - R. Kelly... for the smooth flow AND the lyrics. ;D
Hahaha totally kidding. I can't point my finger at any one song, but it would most likely be a piece from Boys to Men or Brian McKnight. They have created some of the BEST love songs of all time. <3
This one guy I hooked up with had the soundtrack from 'Across the Universe' playing in the background, for part of it at least. It may sound a bit odd, but it was somehow sexy. Especially 'I Want You', as it was on kinda quietly so you could only really hear the vocals - just listen to it, you'll get what I mean. Especially the last set of vocals, all languid and longing.

To be a tad blunt, i think sex with music might be even more awkward....
but, i can easily associate songs with people who are close to me...for instance, there are 2 songs that always remind me of my good friend, probably because she played them a lot when i was over and i heard her sing along to them ^^
Ah..and it's easy for songs to remind me of certain times...like a period of my life or a specific occurrence.
"Sweet Thing" by Chaka Khan. Actually my husband and I never listen to music during sexytime... but when I was younger & made out with different guys, sometimes I would love to have music on, but sometimes it was just distracting. Death Cab for Cutie's Transatlanticism album was a good one for background. I would listen to "Kitty Cat" by Beyonce while getting ready to go out, cause it made me feel kinda saucy. hehe
