I saw an interesting survey the other day. The question was: If you could go on a shopping spree for a day, but have to give up sex for 3 years, would you do it? Needless to say, a whopping 85% of women say they would take the shopping spree. What does that say about sex? Not very much apparently...
For the ladies: would you give up sex to shop?
For the guys: what would it take for you to give up sex for 3 years?
Editor's Note: There was also a recent
study done that found that 38% of females in Boston would give up sex before they would give up use of their cell phone. Only 19% of men said they would rather be celibate. Very intriguing.

I have given up sex for 6 years and uhh.. I'm ok. Sometimes I get pains cause I hadn't but the pain goes away after a while. I do it cause of a promise I made to a special someone. before that it was cause of religion. This is a very interestin' read. ROFL can't believe women are that materialistic.. I've personally met perverted women that all wanted to have intercourse and they shop too but only because they wanted to look good for guys. I'd have to say they must have asked the wrong age group of women or just ended up asking lonely people cause the women I personally know IRL are more of the flesh than the types that'd wanna cover it up.
Ok, I guess it would depend on how often I was seeing my boyfriend in the next 3 years, and whether I was still allowed to masturbate and engage in non-intercourse sexual activity. I'm assuming we're talking an all-expenses paid shopping spree. And online shopping would have to be allowed too.

The thing about shopping is that I LOVE clothes, but I always feel like my fashion is getting outdated all the time, so it seems like every year, I'll look at my wardrobe and think it looks like a high schooler's clothes. Three years would be way too long..

What is with these ridiculous hypothetical questions? They aren't accurate no matter what because when faced with actually having to do this, I'm sure lots of people would be surprised by their own decisions. Besides, all it takes for me to abstain for three years is to be single for that long.

Well, if this study was done in America where over 70% of it's economy is consumer based and where the various media outlets bombard us with advertisements to try to entice us to buy their products, I'd have to say that I don't find this at all disturbing. I'd be more curious is the majority had chosen sex than shopping. Then again, sex is not as wonderful and amazing in the world anymore. What with tv shows and movies having at least 1 sex scene in it and with the vast amount of porn related services online, it's easy to see that sex, at least to a majority, is nothing more than for procreation and even then, neither partner really enjoys it. But I'm sure there are other factors that would deter the fondness of sex like religious affiliation, stress from being overworked, other stresses in everyday life, children..etc...
Honestly, I would pick sex over shopping and I'd have to say forget the cell phone. Sex, to me, is something meaningful. It's pleasure beyond explanation. It's that moment of pure bliss that one can only really share with a partner as "righty and lefty" simply aren't that warm and graceful. And I don't really give a shit about material possessions. Cell phones, gaudy clothing, and other little non-essentials are simply a distraction to the things that matter most. Love is all we really need. ;)
