  • Don't Come a Knockin'...

A new policy at Tufts University may make sexiling a thing of the past. Well, probably not, but the school gets an A for effort. According to the U.S. News & World Report, Tufts recently added an official rule prohibiting students from having sex while their roommates are present. This policy arrived following a number of complaints from disgruntled roomies.

Now, I agree with the spirit of the idea—you should never have sex with your roommate in the room. I mean, didn't you guys see Urban Legend? That girl wound up dead But anyway, I like to think we've evolved to the point where we can rely on courtesy over policy, that roommates should be able to respect each other enough to keep it in their pants—or at least kindly escort the third wheel to the study lounge—without intervention from the powers that be. Or, if your roommate won't do it, you should be able to complain to a Resident Advisor or similar even without an official edict to point to. I mean, right?

Is this new policy overkill, or have I just had really good luck with roommates? What are your experiences with roommate sex/sexiling?
