I am not really that surprised by this.  I have heard comments made before that in some areas and cultures, men resent "their" girls or women dating men "not of their kind".  I hope it gets better with time, and understanding.

It's kind of scary to see things like this still happening.

  • MissPixieGlitter@xanga

it's very unfortunate. people who feel like "their" men/women are taken way are threatened and just have an inferiority complex.

  • alterEGGO@xanga

yes there are double standards with everything.

  • Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga

It is & people are siding with the boy's father. It's sick that stuff like this still happens. It's not as bad as it used to be but it's still out there

@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - "it's very unfortunate. people who feel like "their" men/women are taken way are threatened and just have an inferiority complex."

You hit the nail right on the head. I hate seeing people harrassed because "they dont like their own people". I like that one line in En Vogue's song (Free your mind) that says "If I date another race or color, it doesnt mean I dont like my strong black brother". She's basically saying she's not hating her background by loving someone else.

it sucks that this is still going on.  my parents aren't the same race and i see nothing wrong with it.

  • XactiLucius@xanga

God damn. I'm glad I don't live in an area where people are this ignorant.

  • TequilaKisses@xanga

I'd hope to say no since all of my boyfriends/ex-boyfriends are Caucasians so far.
But ignorance is bliss, they say.

i get a lot of dirty looks from mexican/hispanic girls when i'm with my man. they'll give me the look over, look away, and then look back with a glare. i've even had older women giving me dirty looks and even mocking me in spanish (which by the way, i usually can understand.) it's different with the men because some would even holla at me while i'm with my man or would whistle and whatnot. i do know that if i ever brought my boyfriend to my 99% korean church than we'd get a lot of gossiping and my family name may even be slandared because koreans are supposed to be with koreans and none other. but i also know that many of the women at my church would giggle at the goodlooks of my boyfriend.but in conclusion- both sides we've got our own ethnic backgrounds looking down on us.

It's the black time yo for getting back at the white man for taking our women.

Obviously I did make this up spur of the moment but it does seem weird that black men do have a problem with white men dating black women when a good majority of black men like dating WHITE women instead.  Am i totally shocked by this outcome?  No.   but does it make sense? No.

  • ShimmerBodyCream@xanga

I dated an asian dude fuckin 4 inches shorter than me. no problems.

some people are fucking racist. Some people fucking aren't. Just depends.

  • ShimmerBodyCream@xanga

@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - no shit. i was with my ex who was viet and we were at the movies and he pointed out "theres the white guy always getting the asian chick."

i was like wtf? ur asian and ur with this white bitch dumb ass. It's like people think they own women from their race or something. WTF weirdos

I read about this story last week. It makes me sad to see things like this happen.

When I was fourteen or so my mother gave birth to a biracial son, my brother who I love, and a few years later she married his father. My step dad is African American. I hate his guts. He's a bad person. I've noticed something in the African American community. Men dating white women. It comes in educated and uneducated varieties. This seems to play a major role in how it works. When the biracial couple is educated there seems to be less drama, but not always. My step dad is an uneducated mistake that got her caught. But she dated more educated black men who cheated on her also. What does this mean? All black men cheat? NO. Do black women complain of black men cheating  a lot? Of losing their "good men"? Is it possible black men date white women to get back at white men for their sense of powerlessness. This is why we needed our president. No matter who you voted for, you have to admit this man gives the community a unifying factor. I am usually more comfortable with biracial couples where the woman isn't white. (I'm coming from the white end of it.) This is because it seems to cause less damage to the woman. I think typically men can stand more upright than women morally, because men don't always allow women to as a whole in the community. Okay, so here is your general rule of thumb I go by, but their are exceptions to every rule. I believe what it says in the Torah for myself: Do not intermarry. For a Jewish woman this is especially important despite the choice my mother made. As far as I know, no one else is held under this commandment. But for me and my mother it is a commandment. We have different rules and I believe those Jewish men and  women who choose to convert to Christianity must still obey the Law and are still under the Law for the sake of All People. That is why we are Chosen. Doesn't mean we are better, but we must remain responsible about maintaining the commandments. When we do not we incurr a curse, and as I look around OUR community I see this to be a standard. Intermarry and you are choosing to live in saddness and longing for many things. For others it seems to be a matter of education level, their familiy's openness (so no one has to lose family), and whether it's a man or woman who is nonwhite. I also see some relationships where its interracial and no whites involved. IN this case it seems like it works better when the woman is from a race more with more "submissive" social standards for the woman than the man.

  • NinjaxBroadcast@xanga

That's pretty ridiculous.  Some people just not be allowed to walk the earth until they learn some respect and tolerance.  I'm with Milligan's father in that this should be treated as a hate crime

  • fire_drill_09@xanga

I think it has a lot to do with where you live and also a lot to do with generation, too. I would and have dated a black guy before, and my mom couldn't have cared less, but I know that if my grandparents knew they would have frowned on it.

We just have to give it time. Yes, it is terrible that this still exists in America, but it won't always be this way.

  • LillyVRose@xanga

I didn't  know stuff like that still went on. I think it has a lot to do with where you live though.

  • whatwhatindabutt@xanga

I've gotten a few negative comments and looks (I'm black, he's white, and I think most of the guys I've dated have been white), but where I live the vast majority of people don't seem to care.

I think any decent person would be hurt and disgusted by that poor man's beating.

  • TheCaffeinatedKnitter@xanga

Honestly, you can't help who you fall in love with.  I hate that this kind of crap still exists.

  • Xcite_Media@xanga

I'm dating a Chinese guy and I'm Eurasian. We're used to racist remarks.

  • dragon_king@xanga

I don't have a problem with white guys dating black girls-I know a few white guys who are married to one
