Make-up or Au Naturale?
A not-so-great debate: makeup, or no makeup. There has never been a unanimous decision when it comes to people I know and makeup. They either like a natural girl, or the girl who puts the little bit of extra time in. I love wearing makeup, it's not my security blanket, but it's fun to play with and I do think I look better with it on. My boyfriend loves it. Of course he loves me for me and thinks I'm good-looking either way, but he likes the way makeup looks on me and the fact that i care so much about my appearance is appealing to him.
On the other hand, I have a friend who doesn't understand why girls wear makeup, and absolutely hates it when they do. He claims that the girls he dates as well as his female acquaintances are already pretty enough, and makeup ruins their prettiness and is completely unnecessary. My lesbian/bisexual friends are quite divided as well. Many of them like a girly-girl who wears makeup, while others of them would prefer a more tomboyish and natural woman.
So for all of you interested in ladies, would you rather date a girl who wore makeup or went au-naturale? How much is too much? And for the ladies themselves, do you wear makeup? Would you stop or start if your SO wanted you to?

au naturale.
I like make-up as long as it's not caked. No make up to natural "looking" make-up ftw :)
I love make up. It is fun to do what I call the "Cinderella efftect" When you come out of the shower with shadows under your eyes, nothing special looking except maybe a blemish or two, and twenty minutes later be looking like a movie star. I feel like an artist when I pull off the Cinderella effect. My fiance stresses that I don't need it, but he also tells me that I am beautiful either way and he admires that I value my appearance and take time to be well-put together. And if that means playing with make up for a half hour every morning he is fine with it. He can't tell if I am wearing it or not usually anyway :) But if he wasn't okay with it I would just do it anyway, for me it is important to me to look my best which for me means putting on eye liner and mascara, and if someone were to demand that I sacrifice my opinion on how I want to be physically for them, I would just say, "SCREW YOU!"
make up is allegedly supposed to make you look more sexually aroused.
IDC either way but too much is too much.
Depends...
If you look like Mimi then please, just don't.
But if you enhance your features with make-up, kudos to you!
Natural. Make up for special occasions. Occasionally just foundation if I feel like I need it on a daily basis.
@Swhatley@xanga - Summarizes my main points. I don't think that womyn need to hide their natural beauty. Everyone is beautiful on a natural level. Don't be afraid to show it.
if my skin has a good day, i don't really worry about it.
but if i'm breaking out or had a crazy night, i'll wear some make-up to hide it.
usually for work and special occasions i'll do something fancy.
otherwise... meh. but it's definitely addicting!
Au naturale....I rarely RARELY wear make up.
I don't wear makeup at all. I've only worn it twice, both for special occasions... and it was just some mascara and lipgloss. I prefer just going all natural and plus, I don't have that extra headache in the morning of waking up early and applying makeup... and what's compatible with my skin, etc...
I'm completely obsessive about my skin care, so I don't need foundation. Sometimes I wear powder, and a light brown eyeshadow. Chapstick. Yeah, that's about it.
Never wear it. Never have. Didn't even wear it on my wedding day. I look silly with makeup on - and if I want to accentuate a feature, I generally pierce it :)
My biggest issue with makeup is when someone wears it every day, and then one day they don't and they look like a completely different person. It's bizarre to me. I just have no desire to spend all that time and money on something I don't need. I like looking presentable, pretty, what have you, but I just don't like makeup. I'm comfortable with the way my face looks.
And my husband's totally fine with it. If he asked me to wear makeup...still probably wouldn't. I don't tell him how to shave his beard or how to dress or whatever. Why would he ask me to do something like that?
Just not OTT.
its cool on occasion but without is awsome
i wear makeup but not too much
Well im interested in ladies and my favorite look is when the girl wakes up in the morning. I love messy ponytails and sweats. I think girls look the most attractive when they first wake up. Makeup is okay....but I love the natural look. Its so much more attractive.
I rarely wear make up, and when I do it's never more than mascara or eyeliner. I've never worn foundation or lipstick, and I only use eyeshadow on occasion. I just can't imagine taking extra time every morning to alter my appearance, I guess I'm low maintenance.
I do think make up looks awesome on some people, though. As long as it's not overdone.
I've heard both arguments from guys. Some prefer it, some don't. I don't wear it regularly. It would make me prettier, yes, but I don't think it's worth the hassle/money/effort.
I can't live without my Bare Essential make-up! I'm not delusional and I know I can't pull off the natural look. I wish I could go natural because it would save me a lot of time getting ready. Trust me, you don't want to see me without make-up.
Well, I dont really wear makeup, but that doesnt mean I dont put a little extra time in.
i wear enough makeup for me to feel confident, but i refuse to wear makeup for my SO.
i rarely wear makeup. i usually roll out of bed, get dressed, brush my teeth, and go to class ... wearing makeup would mean getting up a half hour earlier. not so much in the cards for me, lol. i'll wear it for special occasions, though, and if i'm breaking out really badly. but that's about it. for me, it's all about the chapstick. :)
I prefer natural looking makeup, both on myself and other women.
all natural. that way if they DO wear makeup, I know they are pretty without it
Either way.
I don't wear makeup as a part of my life style and beliefs, but I don't have preferences for others. If I had to choose, though, I'd actually probably go for someone with make up.
