The iPhone has done it again. I'm going to have to replace the question "there's an app for that?" to "there
isn't an app for that?" At this point, it's the things that Apple hasn't thought of already that surprise me the most.
Their latest invention is the
Girlfriend Keeper app. It allows guys to enter in their girlfriend's information - number, birthday, anniversary and personal details - and will sporadically text her throughout the day.
Some example texts:
"I just drove by a brown barn and it reminded me of your eyes."
"Did you know we started dating 37 days and 8 hours ago?"
Now I don't know about you girls, but I don't think I hate this idea. I love receiving random texts of affection during the day. But it really is a rarity when that happens. It's simply not in a male's genetic makeup to text his girlfriend every time he sees something that reminds him of her. But now, with a little effort (and $0.99) everyone is pleased.
If I found out his texts of affection were actually computer-generated, sure I'd be disappointed, but I wouldn't overlook his good intentions. He may have outsourced the physical labor, but he had his head in the game.
What do you think of the Girlfriend Keeper app? Worth the money or waste of time? Does your SO fulfill his cute text quota or would he benefit from this?
Update: Don't worry girls. There is a
Boyfriend Keeper as well. I'd like to take a look at the stats on sales for these two. For some reason I think the Boyfriend Keeper may under-perform.

If you'll buy me an iPhone, I'd gladly buy the girlfriend-keeper app.
I told my husband about it. He's downloading it right now. It makes me giggle.:)

Lmao. Oh, that's great. I love the idea ha too bad I don't have a boyfriend :P
what a fuckin retarded post. who cares about iphones.
I dont have an iphone but im sure the g1 will come up with something like it tho. but i wouldnt mind getting lil funny texts from the hubz PHONE not from HIM because it would be more funny then charming lol cuz i know its not really coming from him just from his app lol
Bahahaha. That's funny. 99 cents isn't bad. And I wouldn't mind receiving a few cute texts to brighten my day =)
Lol... what an interesting idea.
that's actually such a smart idea haha! :)
my boyfriend will text me anytime he thinks of me. i'll get a random text that says "is it weird that i missed you in the last hour we weren't in constant communication?" i've also recieved a picture of bunnies cuddling, in the shape of a heart. the message that went along with it was "world's second best cuddlers"
I think as long as the girl knows that the bf has that app.... its funny or cute to get the texts. But I'm guessing if she thought they were real, and then found out they were fake, she'd be really disappointed. (well, at least the last girl i dated REALLY liked it whenever i gave sent her random texts or emails or left her notes.... i think she would have been really sad if all the texts were fake haha).
I'm not sure you can assume a guy has good intentions by getting the app.... I mean, talk about the perfect app for the player juggling 2-3 girls at the same time! (as dumb as it sounds, there are guys that have texted the wrong message to the wrong girl and gotten caught that way.)
that's hilariously cheesy.
Five bucks says the texts in the "Boyfriend Keeper" are 90% more sexual.
well if you're in the relationship for a good while, then i guess that'd be somewhat okay. but i'd still be disappointed in finding out. Besides that, if you're in the "dating stage" and you found out the guy is using that, then you kinda wonder how original/sweet he really is, and how many girls he's doing that with >.<
I'm commenting just to be anal and point that this has nothing to with what "Apple has come up with" or invented.
Applications are written by random people, not Apple.
Also, I hate Apple.
its cute BUT i wouldn't wanna be texted nice stuff by a computer/machine.
its not coming from the heart. and why rely so much to gadgets like that? us girls dont! ugh.
sooo inpersonal.
Lol, I understand the appeal in how the boyfriend can input important dates and facts, but the stupid, impersonal texts just seem... well, stupid.
ROFLMFAO that's cute.
I wouldnt like such things. i would rather get just one text from my bf thruout the day rather than come iphone generated cheesy texts. thats so not romantic. this app a no no.
lol im always interested in what apple has for the iphone! but this totally just funny! i think i would love it for all guys to have it really! :)
however answering the question, no i dont think my bf needs it just because he already texts me too much as is let alone getting those texts! i think its an awesome idea though.. i suck at those sweet texting stuff so think that would help me out with words! :)
Wouldn't fly with me. I actually have to write poems, and she can tell if it's original or not because of my writing style.
Damn, too unique for my own good.
@ShimmerBodyCream@xanga - Well, I'm sure a lot of people in actual fact do. But, I am not one of those people who do. (:
Genius.
The app should be named "How to lose a girlfriend in 8 hours or less"
Random text messages with so-called romantic stuff? This is the kind of crap girls hate (whether they say it or not). It should be subsidized by the carriers though, hahahaha
My question is this: Does the BF know what texts are being sent to the GF. Because I would no doubt respond to these, and him responding "Huh? What?" would probably screw that plan really quick.
