Are Black Women Out Of Style?
I was talking to one of my coworkers today and she asked me about my dating preferences. She asked me if I date mostly white guys because of the location of my HS. I told her that I don't discriminate. She then showed me a picture of her son. She hadn't told me that he was mixed but it was obvious that he was by looking at his picture.
She's Caucasian and her son's father is African. She told me that she mostly dates black men. She said that she doesn't find herself attracted to a lot of white guys. Another one of my co-workers who is also a Caucasian female told me that she doesn't find white guys attractive at all. She mostly goes for "chubby Latinos." Her words not mine =).
These conversations had me thinking ... at work I see a lot of interracial relationships. Lately I've seen a lot of white guys with Asian girls. Then I logged onto Xanga. I can't help but notice some of the blog rings like "Black Guys & Asian Girls ?!?!?!"
Are black women and platform shoes in the same arena? Have we both gone out of style?

You dont have to date someone of the same race just because society says you do. Screw society, make your own decisions. Attraction is attraction.

aw, don't compare yourself to an unfortunate pair of shoes. i like that people are exploring and rethinkng dating conventions.
Nah, we're not out of style. haha. Depends on personality, for me. If your personality sucks, it's time to move on. =P
well I like guys...Indian/Asian get my attention usually, but it depends on the person. Race wouldnt matter to me if hes a good guy and I was attracted to him.
lol I don't like to think we do. But I've noticed that our numbers aren't as high as compared to other interracial relationships. I don't mind interracial relationships. I've been in some.
I don't think black women are out of style... it's just a matter of what type of person they're looking for...

I'm half Asian and half Caucasian. I'm definitely not attracted to Asians at all. And I don't like blond guys. So.... I'm not sure what happened..... I like my tall dark and handsome, thanks.
I'm going to be real, I think that sometimes. I live in an area where black guys and white girls hook up on the regular and I honestly wonder. I'm not in any way against interracial dating, but I wonder where black women fit in.
that's kind of a rude post, women are not a fashion trend. there is no "trend" of who to date. people shouldn't date by the colour of someone's skin, but for personality.

I'm sorry but as a (mixed) black man, I can say that I have never even thought about dating a black girl. So I can say that black women were never really in fashion for me.
to each their own i guess....it seems like you just happen to be around a lot of these interracial couples
@asdfghjkieu@xanga - You are stereotyping black people as ghetto. It's the same as saying you "act black". Though you don't have bad intentions, it is never a good idea to stereotype a group. Try using different words. Ex. strong, outgoing, etc.
I'm more attracted to someone with a lighter skin tone, but I don't discriminate.
However, platform shoes were never OK in my book. :P
everyone's different, I prefer scrawny white boys with big noses. I don't even understand the nose thing. XD
what matters is that photo looks like a happy family.
I honestly think right now it's more "normal" for a black man to date a white women. And for some reason "normal" white girls like to date ghetto black guys. Not sure why. I work with a few black guys and even when a good looking black girl comes in they seem to rather look at a white girl. *shrug* I'm not sure why that is though.
I feel the need to mention that I like Indian guys :D and I'm Indian, haha.
and well, as many people do have racial preferences, many don't. so I don't think a race can go out of style for dating. just remember that there's someone for everyone! (:
As a black woman I definitely see why you ask that question. Even though I love all the colors of the rainbow *lol* it seems that black men prefer women outside of their race. You don't really see black women dating outside of their race or other men of different races taking interest in us but hey, it is what it is!
