Thanks to Facebook, I found out that my high school-aged sister and her friend have been buying condoms at the dollar store and stocking up. I'm not sure if it's a joke or an "OMG we just bought condoms hahahaha" thing (I like to think that they're making balloon animals, but who knows)...
Anyway, I want to be a good older sister and tell her that if she is having sex, she needs to buy good quality condoms, not the super-sale ones that have probably nearly expired already. It also probably wouldn't be a horrible idea to ship 'em to her from CVS' site or something so it's more discreet. It doesn't bother me that she could be having sex, it's that she needs to be protected with a reputable brand of condoms. I don't want to be an aunt yet!
I'm on the pill, so we've always been covered, and before then, my guys have always used Trojans, so are those the best bets? I don't know what brand is the best to send her or ask her to use.

The ones I've used were Trojans or Durex, but I think I prefer Trojans. Both have worked fine.
Trojans or Lifestyles have always worked fine for me.
The ones that do nort have pin-pricks in them put there by the faith just to create business.
Have mostly used Trojan, Durex once or twice... A friend got pregnant using Lifestyles condoms, so I've stay away from those.
I prefer Durex.
Not Trojans, 'cause they smell strongly of latex, and not Durex 'cause they're just a bit small, and we had some break. What she really needs is birth control AND condoms, or some other reliable contraception.
I hear ya'...I once stood in line with someone buying knock off condoms. Instead of Trojans, they were Trogans... Knock off bags are one thing. Condoms?!? Yikes!
Trojans, statistically, are actually one of the worst brands of condoms (they break the most). Durex is one of the best.
I need to look up the statistics again but the basics is Trojan spends most of it's money on advertising and not enough on making quality condoms. However since they are advertised so much they become the more popular brand to buy.
However all this information is from two years ago so who knows, maybe it's changed now.
I don't do anything, but my friends have always handed me their extra condoms after a break-up or something. Apparently, Planned Parenthood condom gives them to you pretty cheap (free) and serves its purpose (after all, it IS planned parenthood). Haha.
My man prefers Trojans 'cause he has a hard time finding other brands that are large enough. It doesn't really matter to me what kind he uses as long as they don't habitually break (like Lifestyles).
Durex.
I hate all condoms. But for her, just find something that is very safe and reliable.
Trojan. They're durable and come in a million different varieties.
Most major brands have condoms with spermicide, as well as extra thick versions.
Well since it's my college mascot, I'm gonna go with Trojans!!!!!!
Damn--I'm about to go out on a limb here, but on a limb I shall go on.
Seriously...think about it some.
There's no such thing as "Safe Sex" only "safer sex practices". Condoms are not always effective, and don't always protect against STDS. (Sexually transmitted Diseases, like AIDS, Herpes, Genital Warts, Syphillis, and about 20 sum other such viral or bacterial infections--some of which have no cure or treatment) Birth control only works against the actual conception process...but does ABSOLUTELY nothing to protect against STD's. If you don't go all the way, and only engage in oral sex without condoms (I believe they make girl condoms too, so your tongue has a protective layer against her vagina) You are still very much at risk for STD's.
Another thing I'd like to throw out: 50% of people with STD's DON'T KNOW they have them. If you are practicing sex with multiple people, be smart--GET TESTED regularly. Even if you are using condoms--as mentioned above, they're not always effective. Ignorance is not bliss...Get educated about this subject.
And, as a final note:
What ever happened to a little thing called morality? I thought we were
supposed to be civilized, have higher standards, etc. Instead we're all
reverting back to an animal state where we screw everyone we want? What ever happened to monogamous relationships, saving yourself for a lifelong partner, and avoiding all the emotional baggage that comes with the territory of having sex with multiple partners? Please, give this some thought.
My boyfriend and I use mostly Durex. But we also have a few Trojans too.
Trojan works just fine for me.
@scarecrow_dreamer@xanga - Wow.
@Innuendo__X@xanga - I am a firm believer that the Truth shall set you free.
Don't be ignorant people, get the facts!
Trojans :)
Durex Avantis are my favorite condoms to use.
maybe someone should write a report and post it on here; the goods, the bads, and the uglies on every living brand of condom out there, along with the different types and flavors... what might make it even better is to get both female and male perspective on this... and while you're at it, you might as well write a report on the different kind of lubricants... now wouldn't that be something...

I like the trojan very sensitive. I only trust Trojan
TROJAAAAN!!
Durex breaks all the dam time.
@scarecrow_dreamer@xanga - yes, I concur :]
I still believe in trying to have sex (yes I said 'trying' cuz apparently it's very difficult to not have sex nowadays) after marriage.
But since we know that only a few people still believe in that, if you're going to have sex, have it with one person who has been tested ALONG with yourself.
it's not that difficult peoples!
