Long story short, my ex is the greatest guy ever. We broke up for distance reasons, so it was amicable and we still talk occasionally and we still care about each other. We're halfway across the country from each other, so face time is obviously not frequent for us.
However, I'm going to be in his area soon, so we'll be spending some time together. Unfortunately, my trip will be very short because of work, so we will literally have exactly one evening (after he gets off work) to spend together. I haven't seen him in months and I have no idea when (or if) I'll see him again, so this is basically a one-shot deal and I want it to be as awesome as our relationship was.
When you only have one evening to spend with someone you care about, how do you spend it? What's the perfect one-night date?

should do like tina fey did that time her ex was visiting from ohio - get a professional makeover, a formal red dress, and have traci morgan controlling a giant fan blowing your hair as you stood in a glamourous yet natural pose.

But something you love; like my and my ex are very artistic. So I loved making things together with him and just taking the time to enjoy each other's presence yet doing something we could both interact with.

as long as your with him, should it matter? but dinner, and a walk in the park/on the swing or something
i would order take out, eat at home, and watch a movie. the curious case of benjamine button is a good one so is slumdog millionaire. another idea is to watch a movie you two have never seen. you can rent movies from itunes if you don't have a blockbuster or any other rental place in the area.
I say dinner, better if it's at home (if you cook well, then that'll be nice too). During and after dinner, you guys can talk. Maybe rent a movie, a genre that you would both enjoy. After his work, I'd say he's pretty tired, so something simple, nice and relaxing will be good. Have fun!
Just the two of you alone. Preferably in maybe his house, watching a movie or something more intimate.

If you can find a dimly lit area (look for farmland), go stargazing. Bring wine/food, and blanket. Since we had a meteor shower, we got to see shooting stars! It's really simple and incredibly romantic to cuddle under the night sky.
Definitely dinner or go do something that you both really enjoy. Like go to a museum, walk around town, something like that where there will be chances of anything sexual (unless you want it to be?) so you guys can just talk and stuff

just have dinner, sit around (depending on where hes from) sit out and watch the stars (if u can see em lol) or in a cool breezy place (if there is no snw) and just enjoy the evening and talk!
