It's safe to say I have never turned to my friends and said: "Hey guys, you know what would be fun? Let's throw a fake wedding!" But as I was perusing Facebook, I saw that my friend was tagged in an album called "Mock Wedding." Thank god the owner of the album has no qualms about privacy, allowing me to view the album in its entirety.
Bachelorette party complete with male strippers dressed in authentic cop attire. Tuxedos and formal dresses on the big day. Sailor-themed bridal party. Wedding gown and bouquet toss. It was all there. A faux-wedding at it's finest.
Have I missed something here?
I went immediately to Google to do some investigating.
Wedding invitations aren't just for the bride and groom anymore. The latest trend to spring out of the college fraternity and sorority system has people of all walks of life sending wedding invitations to their friends to invite them to a wacky wedding party! The premise of the party is to incorporate all of the style and fun of a wedding into an entirely new kind of event.
Back in grade school when Titanic first came out, my friend had a birthday party which revolved solely around her fake wedding to Leonardo DiCaprio.
We went to a nice gazebo and someone held up Leo's pic as we named them man and wife. Then we went out to dinner and insisted on an extra place setting for the groom. I'm currently cringing thinking back on that memory. We were so young and naive.... and lame.
But I had to admit, a mock wedding sounds pretty good right now. I'm starting to have serious doubts about ever finding myself a mate, so why not have a fake wedding just in case I never get to experience the real thing. I'm simply covering all my bases, that's all.
If I could rally up the troops and convince a man to "marry" me, I would definitely throw myself a wedding. What about you? Have you ever attended a mock wedding?
Thoughts on this somewhat insane party idea?

Definitely the first time I have ever heard of it....weird.
Well, first time I ever heard of it...and thats a lot of money just to blow on a party 0.o
i would feel lame as well for throwing a wedding themed party. =/
When I first moved in with my roommate, (who is male,) we joked about throwing a wedding-themed housewarming party as a way to play upon the fact that when we went apartment-shopping, everyone thought we were married. (I was 19, he was 18-- and he's gay.)
huh interesting..
I wouldnt throw one, But id love to attend one.
I think its funny/silly/cute.
I'd feel lame.
haa wow this is just weird. i wouldn't throw one, idk about attending one lol
Never heard of that before. If Im going to pay that much money for a wedding, its going to be a real one.
I think it'd be fun =) as long as there isn't too much money involved like a real wedding. Geez.
i think that's hilarious.
i've never heard of such a party.
hope i'm not missing out. haha
Sounds kinda fun, but I'd just feel weird.. I definitely wouldn't be the bride in the wedding :P

Hm... wouldn't take part in one other than to attend. ....just because it's fake doesn't mean there won't be food!!! :D
