So there's been a lot of talk about Fox's new dating reality show "More to Love". While I didn't watch the series premiere, I still have a few thoughts on the topic. The whole concept of the show makes me all fired up.
Who's to say that an overweight man can only date overweight women? This show is basically qualifying looks (specifically the number on the scale) as the only characteristic that makes one person right for another. And the fact that many of these women say that they consider this show their last chance of love is equally as depressing.
From what I understand, the bachelor has professed his desire for a full-figured woman, and that's great. But I wonder what is going to get more air-time, the correlation between weight and relationships or simply finding true love?
Yes, love has no shape or size. But with a show such as this, it's hard not to keep being reminding that sometimes, at least in this culture, it does.
For those of you who watched the show or have at least heard of it, what are your thoughts? Is it a celebration of full-figuredness or just another novelty to gawk at?

i think it's stupid. why can't full figured ladies and men be the on the same dating show as skinny ladies and guys?
xo
I don't think anyone should be separating people based on body type.. Besides, I think they're focusing too much on the fact that they're full-figured.. Aren't they all just average women?
It's a reality show, not the epitome of moral standards.
I watched it and I saw nothing wrong with it. The guy LIKES those types of women so why would they bring in women he wouldn't be physically attracted to? Besides, those girls (for the most part) were gorgeous!
yeah cause all the other reality shows are held to a much higher moral upstanding ...
ouch. sucks for them.
Let's face it: Love is a myth. It's all about attraction. At least this show's honest.
FOX and its reality shows are becoming the epitomy of what is wrong with our society. I've stopped watching these "reality" shows to save the few working braincells i have left. ugh...
I don't see anything wrong with it. It's actually one of the more decent reality dating shows that I've seen (see Flavor of Love or Rock of Love).
It's a show for chubby chasers. Soon they'll have shows dedicated for every fetish. I predict a Yellow Fever one soon.
i find it ridiculous that the commercial says that they're "real women"- like "full" women (oh, excuse me- CURVACEOUS women) are the only ones that are real.
@kor_girl@xanga - 100% Agree!!
I absolutely HATE reality shows. I'm really not even a fan of T.V. except to watch sports. People do the dumbest stuff ever just to get on television and it just blows my mind that people actually watch it.
Because they'll totally find 'true love' on a reality show.
@Shy___Away@xanga - Hahaha. My thoughts exactly.
the man starring in the show likes volumptuous women. that is the type of woman he is attracted to. & all of those women were gorgeous. maybe you should give the show a shot before you attack it... it's no different than any other reality dating show, except for the extra pounds.
If TV was supposed to be morally correct and perfect I dont think many would be watching.
The idea is more for novelty but that doesn't make it a bad one. Even if it's just for ratings I'm happy to see a show where they aren't just trying to make fat people lose weight or make fun of them.
I think this show has rekindled my fetish in chubby women.

Not really. As someone already said, the man starring in this reality show likes the type of women that were brought onto the show. Big difference between bringing women on the show that he adores the way they are than bring women who weight about the same as him on the show.
it's a novelty to gawk at for sure. sorry but the whole idea behind breeding is to go with the most capable partner for the job who has all the attributes you'd like to see in off spring. in any case, "more to love" has nothing to offer me in that sense.
@pawnshop_heart@xanga - Exactly.
@chayswag@xanga - OMG. I thought of the same thing when I saw that preview. So, if they are "the real" women, what are the skinny women? Not real. LOL. I laughed.
I think people are beautiful in their own ways. Everyone likes different types. They shouldn't discriminate themselves this way, but then again, it's a reality show. None of the "love" reality show is good. So, I don't watch them unless I have nothing to do and really really bored.
Call me insensitive, but I laugh every time a commercial for this show comes on. It's too obviously a ploy by the FOX corporation to seem more politically correct in accepting obesity as a fact of life. I do suppose it's smart of them since it targets a different audience, but I completely disagree with the attitude that show emanates. On some commercial clips, some of the girls said some disparaging remarks that made me quite irked. To me, being overly sensitive and even accepting of such unhealthiness is a retroactive perspective.
...
what the hell is your point?
i'm pretty sure that you weren't bitching when the bachelor was on. so why bother complaining because big girls need love too?
the man wants to date a full figured woman. he's requesting it. no matter what we all say, we all have standards / ideals of our "perfect" mate. he's just proclaiming his in a time where a lot of people are frowning upon.
ugh. people make me want to slap them in the face sometimes.
What will they come up with next? Oye these shows are getting cheap and corny. Just like Tila Tequila's "a shot at love TWO".... if she didn't find love the first time then what makes her think this time will be different.
I agree with you, this shit is appalling. It's the same idea as a show where native americans date native americans, or black men and black women, this shit is ridiculous and it is a frightening awakening to how network tv is diminishing the morality of life.
