New Trend: Asian Trophy Wives
I have a cousin who is like an encyclopedia when it comes to current events and pop culture. We were talking about trophy wives and she mentioned that the traditional stereotype of blonde trophy wives is being replaced by the Asian Trophy Wife. I was very surprised when she went on to say, "Yeah, it's going around a lot. White guys, black guys, it's becoming more popular to have Asian wives." I remembered the term, "Yellow Fever" and she said, "Yup, that's it. And now it's being combined with 'trophy wife.'"I was pretty surprised and skeptical of the idea, though it's not much of a jump. From Yellow Fever [usually white guys that pursue Asian girls] to Asian Trophy Wife. It could happen, right? But is it really going around like a new trend? Does anyone know stories of these Asian Trophy Wives or is it just gossip?

you can definitely see it. what, do you not live in america in CA or something? at comic-con and stuff there's like 80% white guy asian girl couples. i dont keep up with the media though but i can see it happening, it's because more and more ideas of asian beauty/fetishes/porn is popping up and it's like WHOOOWEEEE asian girls are HOTTT! *in a southern accent*.

One name comes to mind. Rupert Murdoch's newest wife: Wendy Deng. Highly educated and not bad on the eyes.

I don't think that it's necessarily a "trophy wife" thing, but that people are just getting more open about marrying outside their race.
There is only one main requirement for trophy wives - and that is looks. It's not particular to blondes or Asians. I do see that other races are going for the Latino ladies.

I don't think it's a 'trend'. I have found asian women to be attractive for as long as I can remember understanding attraction.
If I had to call it a trend, and I had to give it a begining. It wouldn't have started recently. I believe in began when many us troops when to parts of asia. Although many asian women were thought to be cheap prostitutes going along for the ride, most of them came back to the US as a soldiers bride and started a family. This seems to have happened most commonly in korea and the Philippines.
Thanks to their cultures cuisine, most asian women tend to be petiet, and in the eyes of plenty of men, that makes them superior to the, often more than, husky counter parks.
This idea seems to be an exploded and very personally revealing post concerning yourself in your desire to be a sexual, iconic figure rather than a human being. A trend that you may find interesting though is migration and child birth. With a shrinking white population and a growing every other color population in the US, you will find that the number of other races taking up with asian people to simply increase on that basis.

Which will be followed by the Asian female posters countering that their male counterparts are too "old-fashioned" and "closed-minded."

However if my sister ever married a non-Asian (which is almost certain) and my brother-in-law started making the typical Yellow Fever comments about her, I'd probably shatter his jaw. I don't mind interracial anything, but fetishism and often-racist/stereotypical comments are not taken lightly.
I've seen a few but to be consider "trophy wives," like @thisboyissexy@xanga said, that depends on the looks. It's not new or a trend, it's been happening. People just don't really pay attention to it.

I don't think guys see other males with asian girlfriends and say, "Oh man, he's dating an asian, I want one too!" Just because someone is dating outside of their race doesn't automatically mean they have a particular thing for that race.

I live close to the bay area in san francisco and i dont think it's much of a trend, but there are a lot of couples that the guy is white and the girl is asian or an asian guy with a white girl.
oooh. I'm asian, and I'm dating a white guy. I hope that it isn't some trophy thing- I am, in fact, the only other asian at my school (my brother is the other asian). We had 2 senior "asians", but they left! haha. I'm still the only girl asian- until my sister comes to college So maybe I'm a "trophy", bahaha- but not really. I love my boyfriend for him and he loves me for me, not because of our silly races.
But obviously, Asian women are just so hot all the guys want them... haha! I mean, all the guys love asian girls cause we're so awesoommmee. I'm kidding, though. There's nothing so cool about me, ha.
that's interesting..my boyfriend says that he started to have this thing on Asians when we saw each other 8 years ago (he was 15 then and I was 16). He said that there was just something sensual with those dark eyes and dark hair.. He said he just really can't particularly tell what it is but he loves it..
so it's just probably what's attractive for him..going away with the yellow fever

Totally know what you mean. I know just as well as anyone that people are in interracial relationships for all kinds of reasons (my boyfriend is black and I'm white) but I always get a creeped out feeling when white guys show a little too much enthusiasm for asian girls. I can't help feeling like its sometimes a fetish thing, sorry if that offends anyone (I obviously don't think this all the time, just want to make that clear). I hate the expression "yellow fever" its soo gross that asian women are downplayed into sexual objects like that, if I were asian I would punch anyone who referred to me as "exotic". Ew...
