Kelly Hildebrandt is in love with Kelly Hildebrandt, and soon they'll be married.
It's been a whirlwind romance for the guy and gal who share the same name, and it all started with an innocent Facebook message.
"She started off 'Hey, I saw we have the same name,and I thought it was kind of cool, Just wanted to say hi I guess. LOL,'" the male Kelly said.
Kelly the female, from Coral Springs, was curious to see profiles of people with the same name when she happened across Kelly the male in Lubbock, Texas.
"I searched my own name and he's the only one who came up and actually in the picture he didn't have a shirt on and I was like oh he's cute," said the female Kelly.
Three weeks later, male Kelly flew to South Florida to meet female Kelly, and they hit it off immediately.
And now in just three months, the Hildebrandts will officially be married.
Awwww - but weird. My cousin's last name is Wilson, and she married another Wilson...so now she's Mrs. Wilson-Wilson.
Look up your name on Facebook and see if anyone else has your same name - would you date him/her?

Haha, I'm pretty sure no one has my name, but I don't think I'd meet up with someone just because they've got my name. People can be sketch.
I heard this story yesterday...it gives me chills! In a non-freaky, romantic kind of way, that is. I've never met a guy by the name of Allison, though...

Oh wow. That's got to be confusing. And considering that I share a last name with a grand total of about three dozen people in the entire world and I'm related to almost all of them, it would be kind of impossible for me!

I find that odd, and I would never marry someone named Brittany, no. hahahah.I'm a girl, and I was named after my great uncle... but he has a different last name. There definitely are guys out there who share my whole name. Once some other person with my name edited my wikipedia profile to reflect his job details. I was pretty confused until I saw the "he"... I was like, "I don't remember doing any of this!?"
Anyway. I'm dating a guy who shares my last name and it's all good. As far as I know we aren't related. Our families don't even come from the same place, so if we are related it must be from a pretty long time ago. I was doing research for a Chinese project last semester though, and I came across the fact that it was considered taboo in Chinese culture to marry someone with the same last name even if there is no way in hell you're related. We will be breaking ancient Chinese taboo if we ever get married, but oh well. =)

And some people (like me) have really common last names, so that might be a little less weird. But with a name like Hildebrandt, you'd think they had to be related somehow or another.
I doubt there is another out there with the same exact name as mine.
But it's a strange world we live in and it's pretty vast, so in the case I do experience this rather odd encounter, I still wouldn't date the opposite sex who bears my name, and I most certainly wouldn't marry him.
I'd be screaming my own name during sex... uh, that's a little weird.

I read this on the news yesterday! It actually seemed like a very cute story, and yes they checked to make sure they weren't related. I doubt I'd be interested in dating anyone with my same EXACT name, but my last name is so common its pathetic so I might date into someone with it eventually..
I have heard Kelly as a boy's name too, but I don't think I'm going to use Facebook as a dating search engine. Besides, who names their son Kimberly? lol
I wouldn't let it keep me from marrying someone but I'd make sure to do a thorough check on the family histories.
In the Hmong community, we have eighteen clans (last names) so we cannot date or marry anyone who has the same last names as us because we are all considered related to one another. Some last names, like mines, I can't date and/or marry my own clan and two others. There's always a history and story that goes with it all.
But no. I wouldn't date someone who has the same name and/or last name as me. Just so awkward.
