  • Let Me Read You Your Rights

"You have the right to remain sucking but I'll arrest you anyway."

Do you think that it's weird that performing oral sex is illegal in some states? What do you think the reasons are? I mean, are there undercover cops who go around asking for oral sex and then having to arrest the suckers (all pun intended, haha lame joke)?

I personally think that whatever is done behind closed doors and what doesn't hurt either/all parties of the hot session, by all means do it!

Do you think it's weird? Are you for or against this law?

lol, there are not cops who go around asking such things, that would be entrapment and would never make it past the first day in court.

I'm 100% against the law. Luckily I do not live in one of those states.

  • LonerB@xanga

Sigh... That's why I want to move to Sweden...

  • Cest_LaxVie@xanga

While I personally wouldn't want to see people do it, I think it's wrong to tell people not to do it in the comfort of their own home. I saw that one of the states said it's illegal only for unmarried couples...uh, now we can only do things if we have a silly paper that says we're legally tied together? Insane. And same goes for same-sex sodomy - I wouldn't wanna see it in public, but who cares what they do behind closed doors?

I think it's somewhat ok to arrest you for doing it in public - so basically if you do it in public, just don't get caught xD

  • GiantUnicorn@xanga

What states are those? Utah? I can only imagine. hahaha. That's a stupid stupid law. Is it just male oral sex or both?

  • anonymous

I'm sorry, but you're an idiot. The law is against sodomy not oral sex. And just so you know sodomy is ANAL sex not oral sex.  The reasons behind these laws are supposedly to protect child rape victims, but many of the laws are for persecution of homosexuals and have since been repealed.

  • xDark_horizonx@xanga

@Roselove - If you read up on the Sodomy Laws they cover not only anal sex, but generally oral sex also.. old fashion. and the laws which are spoken of exist no longer in the US anyhow. If you read the link you would have noticed.

  • freeeker@xanga

Anal sex should be illegal. Ew.

    Oral, however, is another story.

  • EccentricSiren@xanga

I think only a seriously screwed up society would try to regulate how two consenting adults can have sex. Let's see...missionary position is okay, but if I see you using reverse cowgirl, off to jail with you!  (I know that's not the law, but it's equally ridiculous)  And I am also against having laws that are pretty much unenforceable.

  • Celtone@xanga

I think the laws were very wrong.  I'm glad to see that my state was the first to repeal such laws.  I feel that the rights of one person are diminished where those of another begin.  That point is at the very heart of democracy.  I have no interest in what anyone does that is outside the range of my senses, and does not affect me in some way.

  • MangoWOW@xanga

I'm pretty sure those are the laws that no one pays attention to and only the asshole cops would get you for.
Sucks. They should just take them off.

  • Celtone@xanga

If things that I find repulsive were to be outlawed, it would be illegal to sell green peas, strawberries, or cantalope.  Fortunately, we live in a country in which the likes and dislikes of one person are not imposed on others (for the most part).

  • rozanna_b@xanga

i think the law is stupid to not allow it.

  • UknowWutsux@xanga

@Roselove - sodomy includes oral sex AND anal sex. ....could also be beastiality.

furthermore. I dont' think the law shoudl change. it gives me something to laugh about.
  • AkiShizuka@xanga

If it was in public, I would understand; that's just disgusting. It shouldn't matter what people do in their home as long as it doesn't cause a problem for their neighbors.

  • Kyren_SkyRyder@xanga

Having sex in public is definitely something I think deserves to be covered by the law. Trying to govern what two consenting adults do together in their own home is something else, whether it be oral or anal or...whatever.

On the other hand, there are some really outdated laws in the lawbooks. It's illegal (technically) in Washington state to have sex with a virgin, and somewhere in the midwest I read it's illegal to hitch your elephant to the posts outside the City Hall. I mean, there are outrageous laws everywhere.

  • ohhh_tainted_love@xanga

Roselove - Actually, in certain states like Texas, the sodomy laws cover anal sex, oral sex, and masturbation.

There was a case in Texas once where cops were sent in to an apartment complex to bust drug dealers, but when they went in they found two males "together." They arrested them, and found out later that they had went in to the wrong apartment. All charges were dropped, even though they WERE found "together."

So yes, the laws are still in place, but most cops usually don't prosecute for it. I'm sure they go home and fool around too.

  • Shy___Away@xanga

The law is in place to help underage women more easily file charges, or to help assault victims file charges against their assailants (or so I've heard). I'm not sure how that helps, but I guess because not all rapists only do penetration? Meh, it's a retarded law- in fact, ANY law that has to do with the government dictating what you can and cannot do in bed is a retarded law.

  • Dustin_wind@xanga

Near where I live, there are cops who just recently stopped a woman for speeding and told her not jokingly that if she gave them oral, they would let her off with a warning.

Believe it or not, it happened. It was all over the radio.

  • IrresistibleInsomnia@xanga

I personally think that is an Absurd law, who is oral sex hurting? Unless of course you get people that use their teeth excessively, but thats an entirely different matter :p

  • RaabzBaby89@xanga

what the hell? oral sex is a part of foreplay! a major part! what else are you going to do to lead up to the act?

  • pillowpixies@xanga

I'm against it. It is not the laws business as to what someone does, or doesn't, put in their mouth in their own home. "No oral sex in public" I could understand, but anywhere - including your own home? That's rubbish. Aren't there also laws (in some states) against having sex with the lights on? Yeah, like the police will actually know about any of this.

  • erg_im_joule@xanga

I believe George Michael got into a bind because of something like this, and that Larry Craig guy
I imagine alot of those laws are old.
But honestly, and I dont intend this to slam anyone,I think enforcement these days comes down to homosexual males.
In my state they have even shut down some rest areas that were frequented by homosexuals making people uncomfortable. Or so is the story that I heard.

Outside of something like that, where it becomes disruptive,I cant imagine why it would be illegal.

  • Reldas@xanga

If, between a man and a woman, the oral sex is done with passion, it can be one of the most beautiful things known to man.......Do we want to put the law onto something that is so natural and so beautiful?  We are getting crazy with our laws.

    Regards,

    Reldas
