Can You Please Wear Something Else?
I was thinking about the way a guy dresses in general especially with my last boyfriend. We broke up at the start of this year after a 3 month relationship. I don't know if this sounds ridiculous, but I don't think I've seen him wear over two different shirts over the three month period. I mean SERIOUSLY!! There was this blue Lacoste shirt and this other white one which he wore constantly, regardless of the occasion.
Out to dinner, going to the festival, having a hit of badminton, going to parties - he wears the same goddamn shirt. I understand if he really "loves" that shirt, but it doesn't mean he has to wear it every single day. Not only does this apply to shirts, but he wore the same jeans over and over and over again. I started to question whether he even washes the clothes? If he doesn't, that is quite un-hygienic.When I dress, I mostly try to mix and match that shirt with these pants and vice versa. Even if I have a particular favourite clothing item, I would try my best to wear it with something different each time.
Has any of your ex's or do you know anyone constantly wears the same thing over and over again?

It's a guy thing. The way I handled it was I went shopping with my boyfriend, & we picked out a variety of shirts & stuff together, & I made sure he loved each one we bought. That way, I knew he'd wear it. It worked for me :]
I think it's a "stick with what works" thing. :P
Washing: It burns like hygiene!
I used to have a lot of jeans and then a bunch of different cute tops but now I only have one pair of jeans (I wanna buy two more), a couple skirts, LOTS of dresses and a handful of cute tops.
I've always dated guys with really horrible fashion sense. They always wear the same flat jeans and then shirts with some ridiculous design on them (sports team/skulls/dragons/video games). I really want to suggest a shopping trip and get them a couple choice pieces but I feel like they'd think I was a horrible snooty bitch. lol@Wait_by_Moonlight@xanga - XD I loved that last line.
i'm not gonna say that wearing jeans over and over is a guy thing, cuz i know many women who do the same thing. usually its cuz nobody likes to wash their jeans cuz they get too tight and rigid, and they're most comfortable after a few wears. one word: febreze.
the shirt thing is a little ridiculous though. i can't explain that one, but the only reason i can find for it being acceptable is if he's too poor to buy more clothes. if that's the case i just feel bad for him.
I wear the same things over and over, but at least I wash them. I don't have a lot of money to buy new clothes.
Yes but it never bothered me. I mean, he is dressed and there are no visible holes anywhere, it's all good.
That is weird, my babes only wear polo shirts or his fav band t shirts. But he will wear them once then it's hamper time. Guys sweat more! At least wash them before wearing it again.
I wear the same pair of pants everyday.
Very rarely do I find a pair of pants in my size that doesn't cost sixty fucking dollars, so I only have the one pair to wear. Everyday.
I'm poor.
well i dont think that is just a guy thing haha, and not everyone doesnt wash thier clothes...although I knnow quite a few people who do apply to that statement and dont wash thier clothes.
This is not just a guy thing. I can go two weeks on the same three pairs of jeans, two shirts and one hoodie. I mean do change my underwear every day, not so much the bras (my boobs don't sweat so that one's okay).
It doesn't get old, just smelleh when I fall asleep in them two nights in a row. That's when I go to wardrobe number two (same amount of clothing, just different ones).
It ain't dirty 'til you can smell it and not be wearing it, yo.
my ex used to wear the same white shirt w/ the same pair of jeans every freaking day.. its gross really.. he'd wear it even if there was a stain on it.. he also had a really bad sense of style so that might hav been the core of the problem. lol
Ew yes i remember this girl who wore the same sweatshirt all year and never took it off even if it was like -10000 degrees outside.
I had a boyfriend who would only wear black t-shirts with green or brown cargo pants. I guess he had about 4 different shirts until I bought him two new ones. I didn't really mind because I wasn't exactly the most fashionable person in the 9th grade either.
Now a days he's added red and white to his wardrobe (both not his colors)!
Ive never experienced this, but I'm pretty sure I'd have a huge problem with it. I'd go shopping with him, get him a whole new closet lol.
I'm thinking about taking him out and buying him a shirt/pants that he would like :) But I'm kinda used to the fact that people wear the same jeans all the time- it's just natural now. But shirts are kinda weird. haha.
i don't know if you should call him out for the jeans.
@fueledbylaura@xanga - oh come on! hoodies do not count. i have a favorite red hoodie that i choose over almost any of my other ones.Jeans aren't so bad- they don't really get as dirty as shirts or underwear or whatevs. If I'm lazy or need them for an outfit I'm going to wear, I'll wear them again without washing, but usually not more than twice.Â
She wasn't an ex, but there was this very scary girl who used to follow my group of friends and I around without talking at all, and wore the exact same outfit everyday.ÂSo true! It's especially bad at college with those dorky free t-shirts.Yes, okay, freshman orientation was great and I'm glad you have that shirt as a token, but that was over two years ago. It's time to let go.
maybe he has many many white and blue Lacoste shirts! So it would seem like he's wearing the same one...
Personally i have many pairs of jeans...but they all look alike and are similar brands...
@Dobserver@xanga - Yeah this is always possible, I actually have a couple of shirts that are the same size / style just because I liked them and if one of them gets owned by bleach or rips and whatnot I still have one. Although I do sort of plan not to wear the same clothes consecutively. =X
@ViciousGrin63@xanga - Thank God for Goodwill!
My ex does that. It's immaturity. And damn annoying.
Ahah my boyfriend always wears different clothes. It's pretty cool. Once he starts making money he's going to get more jeans, instead of track pants.
I love jeans on boys. He wears what I get him to wear. =D
Me on the other hand I wear the same 3 pairs of shorts basically all of the time, seeing as I have to work a lot and I have to wear the same kind of shorts to work. But I do like to have different shirts.
You should of gotten your boyfriend something new to wear and then just helped him along. Maybe he didn't know you cared.
he wanted to break up with you- and he knew exactly what would annoy you- so he waited until you broke up with him first.
mission accomplished.
I think he was looking for someone who cared less about clothes and more about what's in the clothes.
good for him.
