Friday Fun: How Long Did Your Shortest Relationship Last?
My shortest relationship lasted a delightful three weeks. Whoops. He was nice and we had fun, but it wasn't meant to be. And while three weeks sounds pithy and, well, pitiful, I had friends who lasted with their guys for days - and one who only lasted a matter of hours.

What was the shortest amount of time you were officially dating someone? What went wrong and caused you to break up?

2 years. He is my only relationship and will continue to be seeing as we are now engaged. :)

9 days. We got into the relationship without really thinking about the fact that I was going to college soon. When we realized it was stupid to be in a relationship with almost no foundation and be away from each other for long periods of time. And she still managed to cheat on me in those nine days. Lovely.

5 months for me. My clinginess ruined it. It was good we broke up though, it eventually was going to go no where and after we broke up, his motivation shot through the roof and he graduated from college with a double major and is going to grad school now. Good for him.

8 days. We were pretty good friends beforehand, and we decided to try it one weekend I was home from school (she was a senior in my alma mater high school, I a freshman in college). We didn't see each other until the following weekend, and when I went back to school, that was it. We're still pretty good friends, for which I'm very grateful.

If you could even call it a relationship...1 day...LOL! It was the summer between 8th grade and 9th grade. We went on our class trip to Six Flags and we were sooo in love....for the day anyway. We were so friggin' cute holding hands and giving each other pecks on the cheek. We got off the bus that night, with promises that we'd talk to each other every day that summer. And then reality hit...my parents were super strict and I still wasn't allowed to have a boyfriend or even talk to boys on the phone. He called me the next day, my dad answered and told him never to call me again. And that was the end of that.

About 40 minutes. Almost an hour. The only reason I count it at all is because I had a real connection with the guy. We were on and off a lot ever since we first met.

Otherwise, there was this one guy that my friend hooked me up with, so I gave it a trial run. Didn't work out, and didn't have much of an impact on me, so I guess it doesn't really count much, either. That was about a week.

Then again with the first guy I mentioned. The first time we went out we dated for, like, exactly a week. He broke up with me the day before homecoming after he promised he'd take me. When he explained why at a later time it was because his father threatened very cruel things because he was racist and refused to have a white girl in such close ties with someone in his bloodline. I count it because we actually cared about eachother, and still do, so it wasn't just a fling.

With the exception of the time my friend hooked me up, I don't date just anybody. If it didn't last it doesn't mean we didn't have a connection, it just means it wasn't up to my standards.

basically over the three days we went out on dates and he was really clingy, moved too fast, and stifled me. while i was reading this book at the time, i realized that he just wasn't what i wanted, so i broke things off. the next day, his grandpa died. i felt horrid.
