Love at First Sight

Miss Antelope
There is no such thing as love at first sight. Love is an emotion that needs potential to develop. Like at first sight is plausible because like can refer to the initial physical attraction.Don't get me wrong, it is possible to meet someone and hit it off the first day. Does that really constitute as "love at first sight"?
I don't think so.
What do you think? Do you believe in love at first sight?

It's weird because I really don't believe in love at first sight, but for all I know that may be what I got. When I first met my current boyfriend I didn't think I was in love. I wasn't even interested in him! But I felt a sort of connection. I ignored it because I was busy flirting with another guy, but my friends said that I started acting differeltly when the guy who I'm now dating had left the group. Which is strange because I wasn't paying attention to him, but I guess he had some sort of influence on me.
Maybe it was love, maybe it was just chemistry. Sometimes I even think it was destiny. Later I found out that even when I had no idea who he was whenever I would just pass by him we would give nods of aknowledgement to eachother. Nothing major, but we had no idea who eachother were and yet we seemed to have this underlying understanding.
The next time we talked I just kinda knew that the next time we met we would hang out, so I told him we should hang out next time. Low and behold, we did. We hung out the next time we saw eachother. And as he walked me home we actually ended up deciding to become a couple, just on a whim. I understood that I had some kind of attraction to him, despite the fact he was the total opposite of the type of guy I normally went for.
We have been going out for seven months now. There's actually more to the story, but I doubt anyone really cares that much.
i fully agree.
it takes weeks, sometimes months to develop a love for someone.anyone who says "it was love at first sight" obviously means that they just thought the guy/girl was attractive.maybe "like" at first sight or "attraction" at first sight.please check out my blog!
That only happens in fairytales. Darnit! D:
I believe in lust at first sight though.
@GiantUnicorn@xanga - I agree. Attraction at first sight, lust at first sight, definitely. But like or love at first sight? Nope.
I do not believe in love at first sight. There must be some deeper connection than thinking "oh this boy seems lovely."
The first time I saw my current SO (and my last SO) I thought to myself "I don't ever want to leave his side."
I was strongly attracted to him physically, but whatever I saw in him in that first moment was something beyond that. It was kind of like knowing that I had finally found my place. I'd call that love at first sight--or as close as it gets!
@mynameisblueskye@xanga - hmmm it sounds boring...better do some alien autopsy instead!
i don't think it's love, it's lust. i do agree that there are some people you meet and immediately there is a connection between the two of you, but love takes time.
It depends on what you mean by first sight.... and yea, it's like, not love... By observing the way a guy acts just for a couple minutes, I can usually get a vague idea of what he's like, and whether I'll like him or not. :)
definitely no such thing
My old English teacher met his wife at NYU. He says he knew from the first moment he saw her that he was going to marry her. They've been together 30 years. While I was in his class she visited him a couple of times and they have such a strong spark. They're really quite lovely together. Maybe it was dumb luck. I didn't believe it before that, but now I think it happens, but it's very very rare.
