You're Not The Only One Who Misses Your Ex
Mamasez left a comment with a mom's perspective on her daughter's breakup:well, I'm a mom that talks to/texts my daughters EX boyfriend. He dated my daughter for 14 months and was at our house nearly every day. he is an awesome young man and i very much regard him as my son. When he was dating my daughter she would often fall asleep and he and I would sit and talk for hours.
So you know the particulars - He broke up with her. Both of them were at fault in the downfall of the relationship - more him than her - a lot more HIM. But it was best for both of them that the relationship ended. They were still in high school. Currently they are both dating other people,
I do not want the two of them back together but I do miss having him around. They are friends now but they do not talk as much as he and I do. (BTW his whole family loves my daughter and talks to her whenever they see her.)
Maybe it's just a maturity thing and being able to separate the person from the situation.
My family was pretty hands-off when it came to my relationships (mostly because I tried to keep it that way) but my dad is close with my sister's BF and his family now - they email and text. Pretty adorable. I know he'd be devastated if they broke up, but I'm pretty sure our fams would stay friendly and keep in contact.
Did your family members ever say they missed one of your exes? Do they keep in contact like Mamasez and her daughter's ex?

No.
My fiancee's ex would randomly call her mom and step-dad. It was pretty creepy, to be honest because the break-up was fairly bad and they're no longer on speaking terms.
Weird.
My mom talks to my sister's ex all the time.
My mom always says how much she likes my ex.
My parents miss my ex.. Whereas I, wanted to beat up my ex's dad....
LOL my exes' parents say that they miss me!
My family is retarded so I keep my love life away from them.
My dad misses one of my ex-boyfriends, even though he cheated on me. He still talks about how much he likes him which pisses me off.
I wonder too if they ask him why I don't come over anymore or why we're not together anymore. I didn't bond with them enough to ask them myself, so it's an eternal "What if?" for me.
My mother loves my ex and I guess they still talk all the time. She wanted me to get back with him for the longest time and got really mad when I said I didn't want to be with him ever again.
But his mom liked me a lot at first. Then she hated me because I was taking her baby boy away. Ha...
my parents know it would make me uncomfortable, so no.
@Lost_Innocence09@xanga - same with me! first I was loved, then I was hated )':
I only let my mother meet the people I'm serious about... and that I know she won't freak out about. Which is only three people. My mother thinks they're all nice. But I try to keep away from my dates' families because I do not have much tolerance for certain types of people, which seem to be most adults, especially parents. I have this one ex that actually thinks my mom is hot.
It's kinda creepy, but to each their own. My mom loves my current boyfriend because he makes me so happy... and also because he's so well mannered. At times I feel like she'd be better of if he was her kid instead of me. I'm letting my current boyfriend be so close to my life aside from our relationship because I take him very seriously and I think he's the one.
Otherwise, no. I try to keep my relationships out of the rest of my life completely just in case we break up. This has served me well. My exes don't get in the way of my friendships, the ones that still cause trouble sometimes, and many of them I am still friends with and I don't have to deal with family grudges against kids which is very immature for an adult to hate a kid that isn't a felon or something aside from hating kids in general.
I know my parents dont miss any of my ex's. But lucky they love my now fiance! And i'm pretty close to his mom and she always tells me that she loves me. the familys have yet to meet yet, but i'm sure our mom's will get along just fine!
as far as my ex's. one of my ex's recently called me out of the blue (even though apparently he's engaged?) and told me how he missed me and his mom misses me and really thought i was the most amazing girl ever and wishes we would have made it. our relationship had lasted only 7 months (but i knew him and his mom for probably 10 months) and we broke up after i found out he was cheating on me (didnt see that coming did you? ha!). i know his mom really did think the world of me, she told me that on several occassions. and honestly after the break up i missed her more than i missed him. we spent a lot of one on one time together and she was the one there holding me and apologizing for how her son treated me while i was crying my eyes out. i only live a block away from them and sometimes i still miss her (not him!) and wish we could have stayed close, but it was a bad break up and i didnt want any part of him in my life any more...
My ex-boyfriend was a pretty sweet and cool guy. He flew thousands of miles from Texas to Washington to see me while he was still rehabilitating from his injuries. I had told my family of him prior to his arrival. Once he arrived, the family met him and liked him. My kid brothers grew very fond of him. He bought them junk food, snacks, took them out for a picnic at the beach, and bought them a video game. He flew back to Texas a few months ago, and every now and then, whenever I bring up his name, my kid brothers would exclaim how much they miss him. It's kind of adorable, actually. They say they miss him A LOT. They don't keep in contact though, but I do tell my ex every now and then that they miss him, and his response, "Aww. Tell them I miss them too."
my mom still brings up my exboyfriend up every now and then. it gets annoying though. she asks me if we three can go to dinner one time and i immediately said no. that's too awkward, although I still talk to him every now and then.
i don't think this is good for ur daughter... i know u miss him but if they broke up they needed to be apart from each other so i don't think u're helping...
I think if I had a boyfriend with whom my family was close, it would probably ease arguments, i.e. our breakup would be on friendlier terms instead of a lot of fighting.
The closest experience I have to this is that a guy that I was involved with and I had to break things off, despite the fact that my brother thought he was pretty cool and liked playing video games with him and stuff. Out of consideration for my brother I told him that he was free to invite this guy over for video games if he wanted to, but the guy hasn't agreed to it yet. I guess he feels like he shouldn't have a place with any of my family members just because he and I didn't end things as smoothly as possible.
i wonder if that mom was a milf. that would be awesome. break up with your gf --- hook up with her mom.
My ex's mom still treats me like her daughter whenever she sees me. My ex never even told him mom we broke up until a year and a half later when she noticed we weren't talking to each other when she saw us together.Â
If my parents ever told me they missed my last ex, I would disown them. Not because they would be missing an EX... just because they would be missing HIM. He was a... just a very... wrong person. Personally. Emotionally. Mentally.... whatever term you prefer. We'll just leave it at that. haha.
My parents didn't like my exes, especially the last one! My dad actually said "it wouldn't be a good idea for him to be walking down the same street as me"
Nope. Well my cousin is married to the sister of one of my exes so during the baby banquet (Chinese tradition), they met and talked. My dad and ex's dad used to work together. If my parents ever saw my exes, they'll say hi and be nice but won't start a hour long conversation with them.
My parents are on my side and won't want me to feel uncomfortable.
My mom misses my first-ever boyfriend. She thought more highly of him than I did, I think! Thankfully, she doesn't keep in contact with him but always asks me how he's doing or something like that.
