I love high-fiving. No matter how retro it may seem, I love to dole out a good high-five when it's deserved.
Our team just made a touchdown! High-five!
I got a 95% on the final exam! High-five!
I fell down a flight of stairs and didn't break a single bone! High-five!
We just had sex! High-five! ...???... Excuse me? Could you say that again to my good ear? An after-sex high-five? Oh, you've got to be kidding me.
It was my senior year of high school. I had been kissing this boy for a while now, but when he invited me over one December day, the last thing I had on my mind was a little afternoon delight. But sure enough, it happened. It was our first (and last) time together and it was...awkward. More than awkward, it was horrifying. I'm shuddering just thinking about it. Needless to say, I left in a hurry, still stunned at what had just occurred. I knew the two of us would see each other again later that night.
This time at a church-group get-together at a local restaurant. Oh yeah, did I mention I met him at church? No wonder our union was less than blessed.
I showed up to the restaurant a little late. I couldn't decide on the perfect outfit that would say: "Yes you high-fived me after awkward sex, but I look so good we can get past this and do it again." He was the first person I saw when I got there. And that's when it happened. The high-five. Shocking. It was then and there that I decided never again would this happen to me. What did that even mean? Woohoo! We copulated this afternoon! Great teamwork! or was it more along the lines of.... That was just so awkward, there is nothing more I can do but to slap ya five and try to salvage a friendship at the very least..
What are your thoughts on the after-sex high five? Playful and fun, or immature and slightly rude?
In my opinion, it is one of the worst things you can do after sex. Any chance at romance is dashed. If a high-five is something you really desire, go home and talk to your buddies. I'm sure they'll be more than willing to slap you some skin. But don't look to your girlfriend for this display of satisfaction. You might find yourself sleeping alone for the next few nights.

When I saw the title I was wondering how old he was. lol. I wouldn't think it was rude, just awkward. I suppose if there was some inside joke, you might be able to pull off a high five. But otherwise, definitely not after sex. no. just no.
Wow... if it doesn't concern sports or something funny or a great feat (not related to sex), I definitely don't want a guy to high-five me... esp. after sex... haha talk about awkward. He needs to learn how to be smooth. =P

I guess it would depend on the couple. I don't see how it's that awkward unless you weren't completely comfortable around this boy...but hypothetically speaking, if I was to have sex with my boyfriend and he high-fived me afterwards, I would be having a good laugh about that gesture.
I wouldn't say it's rude, unless it's a random hookup or something...that would be just plain disrespectful. Overall, my opinion is that it's just playful.
This sounds like something my husband would do to me after we've had sex. I'd roll my eyes at him and he'd just laugh. But, we've been together for awhile so.....if he had done that after our first time, I'd probably think it was weird.

I think if it were fun-filled sex (like being silly in the act), a high-five would def be appropriate. Lol!! And your high-five occured later after the sex at a totally dif location...not like right after the deed was done. Totally dif setting. Don't get why that was offensive. I great many of my friends via high-fives... Lol!
