  • I Love This Guy's Scent

There's a guy. I am attracted to him for many different reasons. He's not the kind of guy to wear scented stuff trying to actually put on a fragrance. But he has this smell that's amazing. It's really light. I think it's the way his body reacts to his soap, Irish Spring. It's like Irish Spring, but a little different and not soapy smelling. But that difference is what makes it matter.

What's it mean that I like this guy's scent? I absolutely LOVE that scent. When I smell it coming off of him, it is like drinking coffee or Diet Coke, my life's pleasure. It just makes me so happy. Is that weird? Am I attracted to this guy's pheremones or something, and that's why I like his scent?

Actually I've heard that different scents ... or depending on where a woman is in her cycle, can affect how she's attracted to the opposite sex. So no ... it's not surprising that this scent "turns you" to him. Scent is powerful, and often associated with memory triggering... so you've made a positive correlation between this guy and that scent. Interesting ... yet kinda cool, in a way.

haha my boyfriend has the Irish Spring body wash. For the first week of him using that stuff he would not stop putting his arm in my face and going "oooo i smell gooooood." yeah, mature i know. at least he didnt make me sniff his pits after he started using Old Spice deoderant.

And i think the pheremones are more responsible for sexual attraction? maybe, im not sure.

Just like I go crazy when I smell Armani Code on a guy.

i was attracted to a guys scent once, i could smell it but it was soo sexy

That always seems to happen with the most random people too, I notice for myself. Yes, I think it's pheromones. It means you have opposite immune systems (which is a good thing for offspring). So it means you guys are a good biological match and would probably make babies with good immune systems.

    Haha! That's so cool!
I love guy's cologne. Especially the type that's subtle yet you know it's there.

I absolutely think its due to pheremones. Scent can be very subtle but very powerful.

I love the way guys smell too. it's something my friends make fun of me for all the time, but I think it's just part of the process of being attracted to someone. plus, when you smell that scent somewhere else, it'll trigger your brain to think of "him".

i always remember a guy by his scent. this guy i used to talk to always wore curve and whenever i smell curve i remember him. this other guy always wore french vanilla sugar scented lotion from bath and body works... he ALWAYS smelled like it so everytime i smell that I think of him. My guy... wears no perfume... but he has a smell.. and no other guy or person have ever smelled like him to remind me of him but i love his smell. I always tell him he smells nice but I don't know how to explain his smell because he doesn't use the same soap all the time so it can't be the soap.. it's just him... he says i'm weird...but I know i'm not. lol

At least it shows that you're into guys who shower lol...I've aways liked the smell of women's hair. Perfume doesn't really do anything for me, but fresh clean hair is nice.

Everyone has a different natural scent. If his natural scent (meaning not the soap-smelling part) is what attracts you, it means he cannot be related to you at all. Which, back in the day, was one of the most important things to be attracted to (and now I'm pretty sure it's looks, not smell). I think it's called pheremones or something, but everyone's are different. So anyways, it's a good thing you're attracted to his scent.

  • soberheartss@xanga

    i like a guy's personal scent :)

  • easily_amused17@xanga

I love my boyfriend's scent and like your boy, he doesn't use anything in particular other than soap. He catches me sniffing him when we snuggle and he thinks it's cute.

I don't really care what it is, I just hope it never changes .

There are a bunch of articles about women and their reactions to men's scents.  Search it up if you're curious! Basically, the scent of a man's body/sweat pleases or turns on women, usually more so if the guy is genetically suitable for mating (meaning his genes are different from yours, and he doesn't have the same predisposition that you have for certain diseases and conditions). So in the end mother nature has gotten a way to push us into picking mates with different genes so our children will be less inbred and better able to fend off physical ailments, the same way purebred dogs have more vulnerability to certain diseases than mutts because mutts have more variety in their genes.

...I love learning this kind of stuff.

LOL my sister uses Irish Spring. I tell her that it's for guys, but she says she likes the smell.

I really like my boyfriend's scent (: and if he wears cologne (which is rare), he smells even better!

Pretty much what everyone has said about pheremones is true, the only exception being if you're on birth control pills. If you are, then those can change who you're attracted to by their smell, which could actually lead you to be attracted to the "wrong" person. It basically messes up Mother Nature's course of your love life/partner search.

There have been several articles on this type of thing as well. Some people are concerned about the use to birth control pills to calm PMDD and such, and the fact that now more and more people will find the biologically "wrong" mate attractive scent-wise, and the biologically "right" mate to be unattractive scent wise.

There was also an article in Psychology Today about a study done to see if women could pick out their man's sweaty t-shirt from a pile of other men's sweaty t-shirts. For the most part, women could tell them apart. And I should add, these were men's t-shirts without deoderant/soap/body wash. Just his scent. I think the article was from a few years back.

very interesting thought. my bf & i use the exact same body wash & he always smells way better. i especially love to smell his armpits. he has no such thing as b.o. there.

  • kor_girl@xanga

my first crush and first boyfriend wore Armani's aqua di gio....my god, the moment i smell this scent, i just go gaga for the first 10 seconds regardless of the guy! lol but lately, i think i'm trying to dissociate scent with the particular guy because it's a forever reminder afterwards.

this guy that i'm seeing right now doesn't wear an actual scent.... maybe it's his soap or dryer Bounce sheet (that also smells pretty good actually, haha) and he fessed last night that he wears FEBREEZE if he's not sure...HAHAHAHAHAHA that's the cutest thing ive ever heard actually...lol

  • kidzandK9z@xanga

I understand the part about how this guy just smells like he smells, that he doesn't us a particular scent, it is just him. My husband is like that and we change brands of soaps every now and then, and yet he still smells the same.....and it is a scent as identifiable to me as an expensive cologne! I was discussing it once with another guy friend of mine and he said that he feels the same way about his SO and hates when she wants to take a shower before they get into bed at night. He says that he just wants to smell her, that he likes what she smells like, so we understand.

@nexthorizon@xanga - I was totally going to say the same thing!

@MochaMoose230@xanga - My boyfriend's weirded out because I come up to him randomly and will sniff him like a puppy. He just smells so damn good! I think it's his laundry detergent...

  • goofball4@xanga

I love the smell of mens cologne-- HOT HOT HOT

  • xSayakax@xanga

Hahaha...I don't think it's weird at all.  I heard that if a girl likes (and/or loves) a guy, she will smell a scent from him that attracts her to him.

  • thingamabobbie@xanga

It means that you're chemically compatible. Which means your babies would be healthy. =) Well, better likelihood.

I was a nerd before nerdiness was cool. Taking millions of pictures of yourself annoys me. Dinosaurs are the awesomest dead things ever.
