So rape. Rape is bad. However, there are gray areas where the girl allows things to go too far and then changes her mind. Now let's get something straight: Girls are at an advantage over guys while horny.
Girls have the ability to retain rational thought. Guys do not. Guys lose rational thought when very aroused. All girls should be informed of this when young. I would guess that any gray area case of rape or attempted rape means the girl is being submissive. Girls need to lay down the law before hand, guys will not be upset. If a girl doesn't want to go all the way, then use your toolbox of alternatives to KO him. You don't have to use a baby making method of sexual release. The use of "No.... *pause*, stop" should work on the nice guys. The mindoutthewindow guys that are lost in lust need something else, "All right pal, this is over" should shake anyone awake. Or "Get the fuck off me before I rip your balls off" is another way to get one's attention. Sometimes establishing a 'safe word' that means 'Panic, stop now I'm serious' beforehand is an excellent safety net. A punch to the nose as well. If a guy was really pushing it then he should be brought back to his senses, and if he's worth keeping, apologize profusely for losing it.
Again, male humans lose rational thinking while sexually aroused. It is a fact. It's one you should keep in mind before making yourself vulnerable to one.

The law is very tough on guys in these cases, especially if he is above the magic number 18 and the girl is not. I'm talking about the gray area still, so let's say a guy is 18 and a girl is 17. There should be no problem, but not in the eyes of the law. Now unless he really raped you or really pushed it too far and he knows it, think twice about calling the cops. Really. That guy, for the rest of his life, will have to notify his entire neighborhood that he is a sex offender. When he's 35 and with kids and a wife trying to live, he still needs to let everyone he knows that he is a sex offender. Sex at a young age can be very confusing and the fact that it's "taboo" is the reason this gray stuff happens. Girls need to know how to control their male counterpart. Guys need to understand the level of TRUST that girls give to them. And anyone whose parents fall short on teaching this stuff to them learns about sex from porn and ads for just about anything.
Almost date rape sucks. It really does. It should be dealt with. There should be someone involved; the guy or girl needs to be educated. But the guy shouldn't be condemned to a life as a sex offender. Especially since most guys feel regret almost immediately after realizing he was "that asshole". Not all men are monsters. They're just animals. And as animals can be trained.

This may or not be directly related to your post, but a major, major misconception about rapists is that it's not necessarily about sexual arousal or satisfaction -- it's actually about having power and domination over the other person.

I kind of think you're over-simplifying the problem...
As much as I like being called an animal (and by "like," I mean "don't like"), I think you're forgetting that the problem with most guys is that they don't want to be "tamed." They want to be the ones in control. If a girl does the stuff you suggest, most likely a guy will feel emmasculated and feel the need to show he's not going to take it, making the situation worse. Being assertive is safer than being submissive, but it can still cause problems.

LIES! :D California has the Romeo & Juliet stipulations; anything within 6 months of each other is not stat. rape, and it's not a felony until a year or two, I think.
I did a speech about it in high school. My boyfriend was 18 when I was 15. :) He was only 2 and a half years older than me, but people flipped out. o_O; I'm 19 now, and I still don't get why everyone went crazy over the age difference. In the US, the average age difference in a relationship is 2.5 years. Interesting, no?

I was raped. It was not about the sex. I said okay to making out, once it went further than that, I resisted, but according to you it was kind of ok. Rapists should have a stigma that follows them their whole lives. They take away a part of the woman's life that the rape. Sex may not ever be enjoyable for them and they take away their feeling of safety, so why should a man not have to deal with something for the rest of the life.

i pretty much go by this rule: if a gal tells you "no" or "stop", you stop, otherwise if you continue any further, then you've committed rape... it's even worse if she's under the legal age...
which is why i go by this other rule: any gals under the legal age should be off limits until they turn legal... but yeah, i don't like it when they lie about their ages...

Sex itself is primitive. Few things really distinguish us from any other animal: Art, being able to predict and plan future, etc(can't think of the other stuff atm).

i don't know to read this post as a joke or in anger. to me, it feels like it's written by a man who has not tried to invision life as a female. it seems to me that he has never had to live day to day with the fear that something bad might happen to you JUST because you are a girl.
