Have You Ever Sung To Your Partner?
The essence of love is knowing that you aren't perfect, but no matter what, someone likes you the way you are. And also it takes a while to really get comfortable enough to dance if you can't, do anything if you can't, or sing if you can't sing. Now, I'm neither the best nor the worst singer, and I don't have a spouse or an actual partner, but I like the idea of singing to somebody. I have seen some movies where people were singing to their partners, and they were either calming enough to sleep or smiling to them. Giving the actual boost to do what you can't really do perfectly proves that love is all about seeing something special and wonderful that others can't.
I sang a multilayered song that doubles as a simple love song. It's nothing but my voice. And if a girlfriend I know hears this, odds are she'll know I'm not the best singer, but she'll appreciates that I went far enough to actually sing doo-wop accidentally (It was accidental, because this wasn't supposed to be doo-wop in the first place.) Before that, I found the time to write a song to any girl that makes me happy enough to do so.
Love to me is knowing that you are comfortable enough to do what you want, and they love you enough to tolerate it, because it's a cute flaw. Either way, think of the very first time you sang around or to your boy or girlfriend. What were his or her thoughts of your singing ability? Have any of you gone so far as to actually dedicate or write a song to somebody?

My boyfriend wrote a song for me and sang it to me.. It was nice :D
yeah. but not seriously..because i can't really sing to save my life.
Lol I have been known to sing a few notes lol. I can sing a lil bit. Just can't hit the high notes LOL
:) Yes, and he's played the piano and sung to me!!
We're chorus kids, that's how we met. :D
But being sung to is one of the cutest things ever :D
I can sing, but if I had a boyfriend, I might be a little shy to sing to him. I could sing WITH him, maybe. If he can't sing, I'd prefer he do something else to show his love for me, lol.
Sometimes. When she's not having a good day she likes me to sing for her. Then other times I sing obnoxiously in public places to embarrass her.
Hell yeh.. but I can't really sing for my life, but he still liked it. My ex was great at playing the guitar/singing/writing songs so I just let him do it & found other ways to express my love for him haha. He still laughed/loved when I sang to him though rofl.
I sang "You Are My Sunshine" to him and sometimes we sing a line or two together. But he says he doesn't sing well (I wouldn't really know) and sometimes he'll sing a little to me. (It's kind of rhythmic talking but I like hearing it. :) )
i've sung to girls before. her favorite songs or mine, usually with positive results.
My g/f sings "You are my sunshine" (sort of...she changed it a bit to personalize it)
. I sing to her sometimes - usually quiet love songs/lullabyes. For some sort of holiday or anniversary or something I learned "She's Got a Way" by Billy Joel on guitar and sang it to her. Also, we sing Dixie Chicks' "Easy Silence" to each other.
I love singing to my bf because he genuinely appreciates it.
& on Valentine's Day this year, I recorded this song & dedicated it to him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXh35c1GZV0
:]
I can't sing, so me singing to someone would not be romantic. I once dated a singer for a few months, and I loveddd it when he sang to me. I actually still listen to some recordings of him that I have because they're relaxing.
LIKE ALMOST EVERYDAY
Only in the shower cause then you have an excuse if you sound awful.
Oh yea-I was gonna write a song and perform it live to the girl I was in love with back in high school-that was until she broke my heart. I was also gonna sing to another girl I liked my junior year-I waited in the music room with my friends for like 30 minutes but she never showed up.
@inthenameofwater@xanga - That song, although sometimes epitome of cute cheese, seems to be the most popular song to sing to a girlfriend, with a cute charm. Ain't it? Hehe! I even sang it over the phone to my now ex years ago, while she was riding in the car with her mom. Oh boy. Hehe!
Now, I write songs for people, too.
No. I can't sing for sh*t. To be perfectly honest I'd feel really awkward if a guy wrote a song for me, unless he was a songwriter/musician already. And the couple would have to be REALLY close.
When my ex and I were still together, we were on the phone. He put me on hold. I started quietly singing to pass the time. Suddenly, I heard:
"Are you singing??"
"....uh....no?...er...::cough::"
He just laughed >___<
But I think in the right circumstances, I, and she, could really appreciate the effort :]
my boyfriend looooves singing me to sleep. but as for me, i'm a lot more insecure. i'm usually very comfortable with him, but when it comes to singing & appearance and such, i'm less open.
but what do i know?! i'm young & careless. even when i shouldn't be...
I haven't a boyfriend yet!
But I plan on singing to him, if he'll ever come by.
Even if I sound horrible, I'll make him listen to me anyway. I put a lot of effort into singing.
Girls, even if you're terrible at singing, you should let it out for your lover to hear. He'll appreciate it more than some self-inflicting comments like "I can't sing.. I wish I could sing. I'm not good at singing at all." It's okay if he laughs. :]
Does screaming lyrics count? (we're both metalheads, haha)
I think I did it once when we were listening to some Johnny Cash, "Hurt" came on. Granted I was a bit intoxicated, but he liked it. :)
I sing to my girlfriend as often as I can. I don't think I do a very good job, but it makes her incredibly happy, so I haven't stopped.
I love it when she sings to me. :]
My boyfriend says he is awful with singing, and he forgets lyrics...seriously though, even with "twinkle twinkle little stars" he could mess up the lyrics (HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE???) and he wasn't even joking. Anyway I still like it when he occasionally sings to me. I sometimes sing to him too, but it's mostly songs to make him laugh...never sang a cheesy love song to him because I wanted him to be the one who does it first...guess that means I'll never get it :p But I did make him a DVD for our 1st anniversary and dedicated a song to him, he said "baby you chose the most sappy song you could possibly find on earth!" and then laughed real hard...I was a little offended that he laughed at my sappiness but that's his way of showing affection...oh wellz..
my bf has sung songs for me but i can't sing for the life of me. haha
lol my boyfriend loves to sing, so he sings all the time. Whereas I only "sing sing" at home. Sometimes he tells me to sing him to sleep, and then we end up singing together over the phone ahha. Or we'll sing in the car. :D
