Suds. Water. Fabric softener.
Ohhhhh yeaaaaaah.
It started out as necessity - my ex and I were in marching band together and would sweat through an average of ten shirts each a week - and turned into something I'd never expect. I remember saying, "I can't come over...I have to do laundry!" and he was, like, "I should really do it too..."
So my ex and I began Laundry Dating almost every week, and it was surprisingly a great date each time we dragged our Tupperware bins of dirty socks (yum) out to the laundromat. Laundry is great because there's significant downtime while you're waiting for loads to finish, so you can hang out or do homework or sit around talking. Ex and I used to do crossword puzzles together while we waited (we were dorks) and we'd take turns seeing how many minutes were left on the machines.
It's also a good way to learn something about each other. Who knew that he had so many pairs of blue boxers? Now you do. And, to be honest, once you've helped someone fold his gross t-shirts and socks, it breaks down potential uncomfortable barriers. You've helped him match socks and taught him how you're not supposed to stick bras in the dryer. It's this massively unsexy - and yet, effective! - way of being intimate.
Last, I taught my ex how to fold t-shirts so they would lay completely flat and wouldn't wrinkle; he showed me the best way to pair socks and keep them together without stretching out the elastic on the top.
Have you done laundry with an SO before? What are other unconventional cheap dates you've stumbled upon?

I've heard cooking together is a good one too, but it can backfire easily.
I have never had a laundry date. But I am a great believer in doing non-traditional things for dates so maybe someday we will...
That's hot.
I do my boyfriends laundry for him :)
He's laaaazy.
I love doing chores together! It just seems sooo.... I dunno the word. Togetherly. Almost like you're married and comfortable and wanting to stay close and do things as a couple.
We totally do laundry together when we're at school. We help each other out, & it can be a bonding experience sometimes :P
Yeh cuz he was sick and I like cleaning lmao.
Sexy....
well since we basically live together and our clothes are always dirty in one place together we usually just do our laundry together... its fun, except for those times during college where you had 94823048 midterms to study for, have to drab you basket down 4 flights of stairs in the snow, but yet you have no clean shirts... oy.
Yeah, a few times. And I fold clothes with him, too. lol :D
my current SO yeah. He held up my bra once. punched his arm. but other than that, it's fun doing laundry with my SO.
i've made him do laundry before? lol but i know that doesnt count. :[
I've done his laundry for him before. :]
That's really cute :)
Bras shouldn't go in the dryer? Hm...nothing ever happened when I did. These days I've been handwashing everything and hanging them outside to dry...it's the Japanese way (and the machines in my dorm cost 100 yen per load...)
Hahahaha, I love this. I read it, and it just made me smile. I used to live with my ex, and when we would go to the laundromat and while we were waiting for everything to get done, that was "our time" to spent together. We had no other interuptions like we did when we were at the apartment.
It's a lot different with my current boyfriend. He'll usually put things in the washer and dryer, and I'll fold it. =]
soo cute!!
i did this when i was in college, i met this cute guy down the hall and we would always run into each other upstairs in the laundry room until one day we decided to make it a weekly ritual and then things happened from there, but it was nice to just spend time together with each other. my current bf and i live apart so we don't always do laundry together but if i'm at his place and he needs to do laundry, we'll go and laundry is clothes since he doesn't have a washer and dryer in his apartment like me. other things we do we that is a cheap date is cooking together, go bike riding, go to barnes and nobles or borders to find interesting books, or basically just have a movie night with our friends.
Wow, haha, that's so cool.
thats a cute story
you're not supposed to put bras in the dryer? I had no clue. lol
I taught a former crush how to do laundry (it was the first month of college), but since the laundry rooms are so cramped down here, everyone just drops off their stuff and comes back for it at the end of the cycle.
Errand dates where we go to Walmart or Target to buy our stuff (I have bought tampons and underwear with him numerous times) or trips to the grocery store (where I would show him what "real food" to buy to take better care of his bachelor self instead of frozen meals all the time)... our most popular one was study dating... although we didn't call them "dates" but they were pretty much dates. We are just friends right now and we've known each other for over a decade now, since we were teenagers. You do learn a lot about someone by just doing regular life things with the other person.
id do laundry with any of you cute ladies......just to see panties......they tell alot about you i think.....and i actaully like doing laundry and folding clothes........go figure....
That's adorable but I don't want anyone to catch a glimpse of my dirty laundry.
wow... got to try that one of these days! hahhaa
That`s cute.
I think the best dates are cheap and intimate. Nothing beats doing laundry, making dinner, or hiking.
