One of my BFFs (who I'd had a crush on for a long time) and I went to see a movie a couple of years ago. The theater where we went does a series where they show a rarely screened movie, but they don't tell you what it is beforehand - it's part of the fun. The curator gives very vague clues about what you might be seeing, and then BAM! it starts.
Well, we went and the clues were pretty worthless, so we didn't know what was going on . . . until we saw two people going to town on the screen. This isn't movie sex where you see kissing and a montage of far-off shots with a bed and shadowy figures, either - it's regular sex. We essentially watched porn (with a better storyline) together.
The movie is called
9 Songs, and it's about two people whose chief interests are going to concerts and having sex everywhere in their house. The movie clocks in at a delightfully short 71 minutes, but I've never felt so uncomfortable in a theater before.
We were both cool about it afterward - "I need a cigarette," he joked as we left the theater - but it was still one of those oh.my.god moments where you weren't sure to react. I am wary of going to any more of the secret screenings there, but it was an experience, to be sure.
Have you ever gone on a date and had something completely inappropriate happen like that? Would you go out again despite what had happened?

I thought you were going to write about the inappropriate things that your date does on a date.......this never happened to me (maybe because I like to know what I'm paying to see beforehand) but I'd probably laugh it off. It's a screening for just the two of you; private joke that others wouldn't understand, I think it's full of material.

Okay, well this is what happened to me which I will never forget... I had just started seeing this guy, maybe a little less than a week, and invited him over. I put in a CD so that we could have a little background music so it wasn't too akwardly silent, and it turns out.... Well, let me mention this: I have alot of burned CD's I made and often, I didn't label them. Many looked alike, and I grabbed a random CD and put it in to play. Turns out, it was one of my little brother's CD's that was just the sound to a bunch of porn. Yeah, it was pretty akward as I ran to turn down the volume and explain the situation to him... LOL. I don't think he believed me, either.
LOL I would die if that happened to me! Something like that did happen but with the film Hostel if anyone's watched that? And it was me, my bf, my friend (female) and another mate (male) who hadn't met eachother before. We didnt actually reaslise how many sex scenes and nudity there would be in that film, it was basically porn + gore. Suffice to say it turned out to be the most awkward moment in my life lol and that was with my bf! I would hate to think how it felt to my two friends who didnt know eachother lol.
By the way, did you know that all the sex scenes in 9 songs are real? They were actually having sex. I havent watched it but apparently it was to make it seem as real as possible LOL.

I've seen it. Amazing film. Revolutionary. They didnt have a script, but a basic idea of how conversations/situations were to be played out before hand with set up shots.
Good stuff. If you and your date were uncomfortable you could've just got the fuck up an left. Me and my BFF(who is a woman) watched SHORT BUS together and it wasn't a big deal at all... and though 9 SONGS shows penetration and ejaculation and masturbation and all those other ATIONS, it is a little more HOLY SHIT DID THAT JUST HAPPEN than 9 SONGS is... plus theres a comedic relief so it eases those particular moments.
But yeah I mean... I was dating a girl for 3 weeks when she brought over Prom Night, Cheerleader Massacre and Black Sheep to watch the same night marathon style and nothing was awkward. We cracked jokes the whole time... I guess its al about your personal morals and opinions on cinema and life in general.
Like, if you were hanging out with friends curious about this director and was into INDY films anyway would you have watched it under different circumstances? It kind of sucks the theater would do that to unsuspecting patrons like that... but... if they did it that night im sure they've done worse/still ARE doing worse. haha, though I find it funny, im sorry you had to go through that SURPISE style like that.
