Miss Reindeer When you're single, the bar scene can be kinda fun. Sometimes it’s totally sleaze-tastic, but most of the time it's pretty harmless. Recently, the most humorous thing I've found is how attractive some guys think my job is. I'm not talking about being an aspiring writer, I'm talking about the job I have that pays my bills. I mentioned this in
the Dad post, but for those of you just tuning in, I'm a nanny.
Every time it has come up, the guy goes, "Oh, REALLY?" I think it might have to do with most guys having that babysitter they had a huge crush on when they were little boys...or maybe they picture Mary Poppins letting her hair down in a shorter skirt with stilettos, I don't know. The point is that most guys seem to dig it.
I imagine this sort of thing happens with teachers, librarians, flight attendants, nurses and other jobs with an oddly sexy connotation.
Have you ever had someone intrigued by you simply because of you do for a living? How did the situation play out?

Before I started dating my ex, he used to tell me that I was going to be one hell of a sexy teacher one day. I'm pretty sure he used to entertain fantasies of me disciplining him after class.
Children like nanny...
Guys are children...
Guys like nanny...
^_^
I am in school to get my teaching license for elementary education and for whatever reason guys seem to like that too. Odd isin't it? Not sure why though
kids ...
imma guy & imma nanny & bein a nanny getz me a lotta daytez espeshuly with uther daddiez
I've heard guys are attracted to nannies, teachers, nurses... because it's known that you are nurturing, caring, responsible, good with kids, all those things. Most guys won't admit it, but that's what they really want when it comes to finding a wife (maybe not a girlfriend...) so they are uncontrollably attracted to those qualities.
I'm an architect, everyone is just always impressed by that no matter who they are.
@lmflazyjai1984@xanga - wowowow :o) very funny.
@ELIZerson@xanga - it's the logical explanation I guess
@pansybradshaw@xanga - excuse me, did i read that right? lol wow that sucks for the wife.
@lmflazyjai1984@xanga - You are right.
it might just be because it's kind of unique.
I would think it's because guys like to be cared for. hee hee.
@MzBrownEyez - well you redit almost ryte remember not all daddiez ar married to womyn or married @all for that matter & just bekuzza daddie iz married duznt meen he cant hav sum fun on the syde i meen jeeez guyz hav ben doin that for untold millenia ryte
@pansybradshaw@xanga - true true.
I noticed how many men go "... oh." when I tell them I go to Harvard or start talking philosophy (or debate... or star trek hah!).
*eh* I probably won't want one of them anyway, least my current BF appreciates
@lmflazyjai1984@xanga - lol
@wachamakulit@xanga - you like that don't you?
Wow, I shouldn't spam Datingish. They might edit my comment to make me look silly!
because it shows wifey status.
Easy.
@lmflazyjai1984@xanga - haha, it is true what u said. i asked my " i dont know if he's my bf" why he chooses to stay with me and he said that i make him feel like a baby and he likes being treated that way.
@wachamakulit@xanga - guys love to being taken care of... in some way they still want the mother's love from their girlfriends
@lmflazyjai1984@xanga - no doubt about that. lol
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way! I'm a teacher & every time I meet a guy, they're always intrigued at the fact that I'm a teacher. It actually happened the last time I went out.. The guy started flirting with me & taking every opportunity to talk to me & such.. I just tuned him out. It's not just because I have a boyfriend, but also because a club/bar isn't a place I'd go to find a relationship. It's not my thing. It does get annoying though. I wish they'd back off sometimes!
@StandUp2Life@xanga - I'd agree with your reasoning.. It's because people of the teaching [& nursing & such] professions are known for our nurturing nature.. & all of our qualities are what guys look for in a wife [you know, when they are at that stage to settle down..] My mother had told me the same thing but I guess I never thought about how true it was until now! :) If you look at it in the more positive light, it's actually quite flattering. :)
@lmflazyjai1984@xanga - i like that logic :]
