Guy Sues for Right to Wear A Skirt
via Yahoo:
A man sued the New Orleans Police Department, claiming he was harassed by an officer who threatened to arrest him for wearing a black pinstriped skirt to municipal court. Jeremy Don Kerr is asking for $1 in damages, a ruling that his rights were violated, and an order against barring access to public facilities because of gender stereotyping. The department hasn't been served with the lawsuit and hasn't answered the claim in court.
Kerr filed the civil rights lawsuit last month. He said he finds skirts more comfortable than pants, and wears them with button-down oxfords or T-shirts.
And he said women love it.
Guys in skirts: hot or not? Also, was this guy within his right to wear what he wanted? I say as long as it wasn't a skirt that showed more skin than was appropriate in court (think super short like a French maid outfit), he should be able to wear whatever he wants. I also liked that he only sued for a dollar and not for some ridiculous amount of money.

lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol.
Let him do what he wants.
More power to him. I'm confounded by the idea of men in skirts--even though I know that historically EVERYONE wore them. But he can wear what he wants. If I can go to court in a greasy work apron and a Burger King crown, why not a skirt? There's no law against it, so long as he was wearing underwear (not a thong, of course).
And absolutely! Props to this fella for suing for $1.
Everyone is free to dress as ze wants, so I see no problem in a dude wearing a skirt. I´m scottish, so the idea of men in skirts is not foreign to me.
Hilarious
Lolol. Let the man dress how he wants ... No matter how odd it is.
I pretty much agree with everyone else. Let him where what he wants.
The guy totally has the right to wear a skirt if that's what he wants. As to whether or not it's hot...well, at least it's easier access!
rofl.
I wouldn't say it's hot, but he should be allowed to wear whatever he wants.
Maybe the police officer thought he was being prostitutal or trying to provoke them.
But if he thinks they're more comfortable, more power to him... I mean, the Romans wore togas and tunics, no? What's really the difference? Apparently guys' legs are supposed to look better in dresses anyway... (or so I've heard)
And I'm glad he sued for only $1. I'm starting to have faith in people again. -.- Seriously though, why do people think that an insult automatically makes them deserve thousands or millions of dollars? Money should be paid only for real damages caused directly by the incident; to pay for counseling and/or the hospital. Otherwise, it's just whining, because they don't really get the point in suing. So kudos to him.
I don't like seeing people wear their fetishes in public. But that's just me.
I just think there should be a certain rule of conduct on official government property. I wouldn't wear my usual casual clothes into a courthouse. While I don't think it's grounds for arrest, I do think it was pretty disrespectful. Should have worn a dress, at least :P
People should be allowed to wear what they want (within reason... I'm assuming we're not talking about an ass-exposing miniskirt here).
And yes... guys in kilts are hot.
Skirts? Maybe not.
KILTS on the other hand, are incredibly hot.
This is second in hilarity to that guy who sued McDonald's for making his coffee hot.
There's nothing wrong with guys in skirts. I'm pretty sure the minimum amount that one can sue for is $20, though.
a guy in a skirt.. oh man i'm sorry but no, that is so gay.. yeah i said it, gay. o.O
HOT!
Well I don't find guys in skirts attractive, and at first I agreed with the guy, but then I started thinking that the courtroom people get pretty annoyed when even girls wear miniskirts or tube tops. They might have just been looking for more typical formal wear, things that are socially appropriate for special occasions.
Skirts? ehhhh
Kilts? Okay. Go ahead. I'm okay with culture and okay with not TOO much showing.
But in a court, uh... dress "nicely/er" .... >_>
He should be able to wear whatever he wants without public embarrassment.
Freaky as hell...but screw the system that is setting double standards. So what if it is "disrespectful" to the courts...but frankly I've lost my faith in our court system and there's nothing they could have done about it. Stick it to the man...man. =/
It's not their business. If a man wears a kilt, then I wont complain. It's what we likes.
It wouldn't bother me. Just as long as he doesn't have disgustingly hairy legs.
Well, I think his case could be easily denied on the basis of obscenity, which is left to the community's discretion.
