Yahoo:
Maine's governor signed a freshly passed bill Wednesday approving gay marriage, making it the fifth state to approve the practice and moving New England closer to allowing it throughout the region.
New Hampshire legislators were also poised to send a gay marriage bill to their governor, who hasn't indicated whether he'll sign it. If he does, Rhode Island would be the region's sole holdout.
I'm kind of amazed at how quickly this is all happening. Which state do you think will be last to allow same-sex marriage?

Fark, something to think about.

hahah wowwww, and people in the MsCali forum were SOO sure that it wouldn't slowly pass through the states. dum dums.
Good for Maine.
haha Texas will probably be the last to pass to allow same sex marriage..or the only one that won't.
Interesting blog. I think thats a good step forward in acceptance of lifestyles and life choices. If only the whole world were as open minded.
Well the states that are usually the most bigoted tend to be the southern states...so...I'd guess Mississippi? Maybe Alabama
Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carlolina or Texas I would guess.
Does anyone know why a rainbow is used to represent gay people?
This made me so happy to hear. I am so proud of Maine. :)
I am sure Georgia will be close to last to pass gay marriage laws. We don't even have any established hate crimes.
Yay! I hope one day that all states will have legalized gay marriage. Love is love.
YAAAAAYYYYY!
Way to go, Maine!
Unfortunately, this is not the final decision since Maine's state constitution allows a people's veto in matters like this.
But, yay, go Maine, cause that's where I am from.
Regarding the issue of states passing it one by one, I think that the federal government will pass something that applies to all states before each individual state passes something.
Yay! Now we have another group of people who can be taxed shitless by the government and their dumbass marriage laws!
Stupid Government.
However, it is nice for a change to see States deciding something.
@TheJoyfulCynic@xanga - Lol, well, everyone deserves the same opportunities, right?
California.
I know my comment will stir up somebody - if not lots - but I'm going to take a stand for Truth and express my disappointment... and leave it at that. May God seriously have mercy on our nation.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
Florida will never cave.
@TheJoyfulCynic@xanga - Actually, Mainers are already used to having the crap taxed out of them, so this really won't be a big deal. lol
wow... I'm surprised at the predictions people have. although I agree with the southern states being the last, what about Utah and Arizona?
@LupusInvictus@xanga - LOL. true.
To be clear, I think that clearly under the 14th amendment Gay Marriage should be legal, as long as it's decided by each individual state and not the Feds as a whole. I'm just saying I'd like to keep the Government, Federal AND State, out of marriage as much as possible.
And, by the way, WHO wrote this post? I am so gosh darn excited to see my home state mentioned by someone other than me that I can barely contain myself.
If someone posts about Alaska next, I might just pee my pants.
California.
woot!
Woo hoo! Go Maine! :D
I think the last state will be something like Mississippi, Georgia, Tennesee, Texas...something like that. Also, nobody mentioned Florida, and I'm surprised. They have alot of issues with gay marriage and the like. My girlfriend is from there, and she was talking about how badly the stigma against homosexuals is there. I never would've thought it, but apparently it is.
Anyway, this is exciting. I hope this trend of legalization continues <3
@fatal_mess@xanga - Not to be rude or anything, but if God's biggest concern is gay marriage we're screwed.
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - Your question prompted me to google.

And yay! I think the last state would probably be a southern state.
