I haven't dated very many guys, but the ones I either crushed on or dated casually were actually pretty similar. I guess have a type - I tend to gravitate toward tall, lanky guys who are shy and a little bit dorky. They were all big readers, were into good music and most of them were good kissers. Most. That's another story for another time.
And despite our having broken up, fallen apart, whatever, most all of them were really good guys. I don't think there's a guy in the bunch I look back on and think "oh god..." about.
How similar (mentally, physically or both - you pick) are all of your exes? Were they good guys/girls, or are you embarrassed that you dated them?

I think he and I were pretty similar. But I've forgotten really haha
They've all been different down to their physical appearance to their interests. I find if one doesn't work out and another person looks or his demeanor reminds me too much of a certain ex I stay away from them.
It's best to play the field and look for different kinda of people. I think that is why people get stuck in ruts and bad relationships because they keep choosing the SAME guy.
Each & every guy was completely different. I went for a cocky, short blonde haired guy who had a fondness for double entendre. Another guy was a smoker mechanic who raced cars with a mischevious smile. Yet another was a tall, thick mixed race guy with a cocky attitude. What did they all have in common? They were assholes.
My boyfriend now is everything I've ever wanted in a guy and the complete opposite of every other guy I've ever crushed on or been with.
I haven't dated that many, most of them do fall into a certain category though - quietly confident, masculine and smart, sharp eyes and a little bit on the wild side, except for my current bf.
I also do tend to gravitate towards a certain look too, clear skin, short shaved heads and thick eyebrows. Not monobrow though.. funny

yeah there were a few that I was embarrassed I dated..not because they were unattractive, but because some of them were really weird..and now that I think about it, I can't help but wonder wtf I ever gave them a chance.
but I've also dated some very outgoing boys who were sweet talkers and those I think I'm most attracted to.
I was never embarassed, maybe not like running to tell the world, be never embarassed or trying to hide that I was dating someone....that's ridiculous, you shouldn't date someone if you are too ashamed to be seen with them.

short, blondish, kind of eccentric;
tall, "bigger" guy, poet/sportswriter? (lol);
younger, blonde, innocent, cute;
older ex-rocker pothead, also my boss (whoops);
older ladies-man, charmer, funny (another boss!);
dark, bearded, philosophical, john lennon fan;
black/mexican, loved anime, tall and skinny;
older car lovin thinks he's a badass, has a kid, also kind of a deadbeat jerk;
now nothin. the only patterns i see are 3 older guys....which i definitely am attracted to. also that only 2 were not white, hmmmm. maybe i need to branch out even more. :)
I can honestly say i've never dated to guys alike.. but as i've gotten older i like geeky guys that are god with computers? sooo computer nerds. kinda weird but true.. but i've never dated anyone of themm.. and i think i've only been embarrassed dating Cory, because he isn't the brightest in the bunch. But later i realized thats why i LOVE him.
COMPLETELY different in looks, but personality-- tend to be cocky, intelligent and sometimes an asshole.
I guess I tend to go towards tall guys who are sarcastic and into the same music/movies I am, especially if they come off as cocky and intelligent (often more than) haha... i find it a fun challenge because I think myself very intellectually motivated and probably a little over confident soooo.... I need someone I can match up to hah.
Luckily I've never really had a bad ex situation who turned out to be an asshole, we basically all still talk...
except for one who turned out to not have a spine and his current GF won't even let us be facebook friends! That was 5 years ago we dated and I've been in a relationship since then...it was my freshman year! oy.
Boy #1: tall and very skinny, engineer (like me), kinda geeky, blond, Danish, normal style.
Boy #2: volleyball player, very active, ripped, short, engineer (do we see a trend?), Ukrainian, pretty good style.
Boy #3: average height, bigger, not athletic, grumpy, played WoW 24/7, architectural tech, Cantonese, very sweet, totally devoted.
Boy #4: average height, muscular, financial advisor, very cute, Italian, great sense of humour, writer, plays guitar, COMPLETELY AWESOME (I'm dating him right now). Great cuddler, loves making out. ;)
my past exes were very different both mentally and physically. one was short, nice, and a complete doormat (boring), and the other was tall, a control freak, and a complete jerk. I shudder every time a memory with them comes up. like.. "wtf was i thinking, i want the last 5 years of my life back" bad. my fault though. won't date extremes again.
Every guy I've seen has been extremely different from the last in both mental and physical qualities. Can you not have a type?
I've only had four boyfriends in my lifetime. One of them, I don't even like to talk about because it was high school & was for only 3 months. And he cheated on me while we were together. We were complete opposites.
The other three, were pretty opposite from each other. My first boyfriend was very shy & was very introverted. I'm kind of the same way so we got along pretty well. The second one, he was a Type A personality, outgoing, needed to be around people all the time but he was also controlling & verbally abusive. Finally, my last boyfriend was outgoing when he needed to be but I think he liked to spend time by himself also. His personality meshed more with me and so I hope to find someone more like him again.
The guys I've dated aren't very similar in personality but I'd definitely say that most, if not all, of them were athletic.
Completely different.
First: Cantonese. 5'9. Shy. Quiet. Toned, lifted weights. Momma's boy. Jackass.
Second: Irish. 5'10-5'11. Outgoing. Loud. Runner (track star). Rebel ("rules are meant to be broken"). Knows how to treat a girl well.
All have smoked, the first two are/were when we dated into drinking and later got into harder drugs... My current boyfriend drinks socially and used to do a lot more drugs.
Looks wise, my most recent ex and my current boyfriend look somewhat alike... All my exes have been think and of different race than me.
Personality wise, they are all very different people
i've only had 3 boyfriends (including the one i'm dating now) - and my first boyfriend and current boyfriend have a lot of similarities, I guess... tall, athletic build, brown hair, blue eyes. Different personalities, though (minus the fact they're both completely obsessed with basketball). But they're both very sweet, loving, caring, devoted, etc... they just have different senses in humor, i guess.
and the other boyfriend between those two is a complete "woops" that i AM embarrassed about... blonde hair, blue eyes (i'm a sucker for blue eyes), completely cocky (as was my first boyfriend), and a complete asshole AND a douchebag. All my friends hated him.. fortunately we were only together for 3 months =)
They all look similar and for the most part are all slender.
They've all been very different.
But improving for the most part, with a few little rebounds here or there.
All I know is, I'm much more happy with my man now than I've ever been with any other in my life.
All thin, all hairy, all smart, all funny, all assholes, all had little beer bellies. ha. fuck me.
I'm only 5'3" but I like them tall, at least 5'11" and they all have over-gelled black hair, deep monotone voices lol acted like jackasses but I thought they were adorable
they all look similar face-wise, maybe I'm subconsciously looking for replica replacements but with a better personality.
