  • Why the F*** Do You Have a Kid.com

To all of you young people having babies, beware of this website: Whythef***doyouhaveakid.com

The website is set up so anyone can send in found pictures (I'm going out on a limb and saying not their own) of mothers-to-be/girls/boys holding babies. The submitter feels these people need to be questioned as to why they thought it was a good idea to have a baby. Each picture is captioned with what the makers of the website believe could be the reasoning. Most of the pictures on the website show young teens with kids or people who don't look like they show the qualities of being a good parent. Also, the background of condoms and pill packs is very tasteful.

Check out the website and let me know your feelings on it. Do you think it's funny, disrespectful, or something in between?

When I saw it last week I thought it was mildly amusing but still disrespectful of young parents. They have a hard enough time as it is we don't need to be adding to it by poking fun.

  • shetakesphotos@xanga

I don't like it. It's disrespectful. Teens with kids have a hard enough time as it is, without being made fun of on the internet for the world to see.

  • RazorBladeParade@xanga

It's satirical. Disrespect often goes hand in hand with that, but the world gets its kicks from laughing at people who make dumb decisions.

They have a disclaimer that allows people to request removal.

  • The_Tudor_Rose@xanga

I think its sad someone spent the time to build that site >.< But hey, whatever floats your boat I guess?

  • laytexduckie@xanga

It's disrespectful. Not as bad as the Westboro Baptist Church website, but it's somewhere along the lines. I know plenty of single parents who are hard workers and love their children. People need to find better things to do with their time instead of trying to hide their disgraceful life by trying to put down others'.

  • rzimmerman08@xanga

It's a joke. Completely ridiculous and a waste of space online.

  • g0Lden_divinity@xanga

I didn't really find it funny.  It was kind of sad, actually.  To see people at such a young age making a fashion statement out of being pregnant.  The captions weren't as bad as they could of been.  Whatevz, people have too much time on their hands.

  • just_the_average_jane@xanga

Meh...I found it disrespectful.  We don't know anything about the circumstances or the individuals, and the only thing supposedly making them bad parents is their age.  Now, a site with pictures of negligent/outrageous parenting behavior would be much more reasonable.

  • black_lie@xanga

    I think it's pretty funny.

  • irishgrrl690@xanga
    yay!

    VERY NICE.

I approve of the existence of this website and I'm kinda sad I didn't think of it first!

  • MissRobynRenee@xanga

    Funny as hell.

I like the fact that if someone comes across it and wants it removed, it can happen. That's good.

  • asdfghjkieu@xanga

    hilarious. especially the background hahahha.

It's not really fair to teenage parents (I, myself, am a teenage parent), but we all knew that by having sex we could get pregnant, and that we would be ridiculed for being pregnant and having a child.

I don't think it's right that you can post pictures of other people on there, but when you post pictures of yourself on the internet you know it's a possibility that someone will use that picture to do something you don't like. And you can request to have it removed.
    I don't think it's funny, but I don't think it's offensive either.
On a scale of 1-10, one being Mother Theresa and 10 being Satan, I'd rate it a 5. People get bored and do stupid things like make pointless websites. Oh well.
  • pillowpixies@xanga

I think it's hilarious. Especially the one that says, "becuz ur supposed to keep at least six inches between u and ur dance partner" ha.

Seriously, I do think it's pretty funny. When teenagers have sex, they know what they're risking. It's not like people are suddenly going to throw a party for every minor who decides to get naked with a bed partner.

Sure, it is honestly disrespectful. Some of these people, for instance, might not actually be pregnant; or the kids might not be theirs. Like the first one I saw where he was holding a kid and playing a game? For all we know that's his baby cousin.

So, I think it's hilarious in the sense that people who deserve to be on the site, probably get on the site. (Think 14 year old Maury visitors)

However, I think it's desrespectful in the sense that people who might not be pregnant / a parent are being posted.

    It's for humor, though, so.

  • TakingxOverxMe@xanga

    I don't think it's disrespectful.

Some people really should not be having kids because they obviously aren't ready and by some of the pictures, you can tell they aren't ready and they can't raise a child successfully.

  • alwaysBonny@xanga

Well I don't think that it's funny nor amusing of the sort, but it brings a good point in why some young teens shouldn't be having children. But also in a way I find it really disrespectful to even have something like this up and in public since young teen parents already have a difficult time handling it on their own and the fact that it also shows that they're strong individuals for making such a decision.

    So, in between.

  • xxthatsmexx@xanga

I thought it would be something like the pictures we see on failblog & other sites.  These photos are just of normal people.  I think it's kind of disrespectful and invasive to post pictures like that and put captions underneath them.  I know it's all in the name of humor, but it's still embarrassing.  And also, it irks me that they don't use proper spelling.

  • LupusInvictus@xanga

@laytexduckie@xanga - Wow, you are right about the Westboro Baptist Church site. I looked at it out of curiosity and planned on reading some of their justifications (because I like to look at all sides of the argument on a regular basis) and couldn't even get through more than a few sentences. Obviously the site was made for people who already agree with them because they aren't going to convert anyone who is on the fence with those methods.

I know...off topic, I was just very surprised and wanted to share it with someone.

  • DuafeRose@xanga

oh.my.god. How incredibley NOT funny. Need it be said that there are plenty of "older" parents who should be banned from procreating? And that sometimes condoms and pills don't do their job? Everyone makes mistakes. And even if the baby is unplanned, a child can add so much joy and experience to your life. Having a kid is a big deal and it's really shameful that anyone would make light of that. I mean your life changes SO much, esp. when you're young. I had my daughter at age 20 so I would know. Whatever path your life takes is the business of the individual so the webmaster is showing a lot of ignorance by glossing over the issue with stereotypes and assumptions. Just because you're young doesn't mean you're a bad parent.
That said, yes, there are young couples who really shouldn't be having kids at that point in their lives. But I'm not perfect and neither or they, and I sure would hate it if someone decided to make a website based on all the stupid stuff I've done.

  • christinacanshimmy@xanga

haha! I think it's hilarious and the background is just amazing

  • Sun_Starflower@xanga

It's disrespectful to the young parents. Why in the world are we making fun of them?? I didn't laugh at all when I saw the photos. If you cover up the quotations, then what would you think? I find it scary how teenagers are getting pregnant and starting a family when they have barely started their adulthood.

  • MangoWOW@xanga

Haha I think it's pretty funny! I mean, it's kinda an old joke so Im not gonna start visiting everyday to check out new pics. But I'd probably show my friends or something.
    Pretty good.

  • oompalompalover@xanga

Eh I dont really like it i mean come on they know they shouldnt have and are allready gettin enough from parents and other people. So whats the point of humliating them any further. . .

  • garlicface@xanga

    I think it's funny, because it's obviously a joke.
It's just like LOLcat and 4chan and shit.
Big freaking deal. You put your shit on the internet, someone is going to do something with it. So watch out. I mean, what about that huge "Facebook scare"?
Shouldn't that have taught people something?

Also, shouldn't 14 year old girls know better than to go around sleeping with guys and getting pregnant? Seriously?

I mean, they can request to have pictures take down. So whatever.
    I don't think it's offensive.

People get so fucking offended by everything these days.
    "Oh no, somebody said 'God'."
"Did you just say 'black people' instead of 'African Americans'?"
    Yeah, suck my cock.
Obviously the people that post here aren't serious. There's just an internet phenomenon with captioning photos.
I don't even care when people make fun of Arabs or Muslims (knowing they're joking, which is the case with this website). So why should anyone care FOR me?
