Miss OstrichHere is my formal complaint to Facebook couples: Please stop posting hundreds of MySpace-esque and Macbook pictures of you kissing and making faces at the camera. It's not cute after the first three pictures, and it certainly isn't cute after fifty. Of course, I can avoid clicking on the album labeled "Brian and Britt <3333 4eva!" but when I get eighteen pictures on my newsfeed of them flashing fake gangster signs and making out for a camera held up and at arm's length, I am forced to at least glimpse as I'm scrolling down the page.
I think couple pictures are nice. Really! I do. I have a few of my boyfriend and I up, but most are candid, or taken by a friend and innocent.
I don't want to broadcast the intimate part of my relationship on the internet. I do have some pictures related to the ones I complained about above, but just because I have them doesn't mean they're going up on the internet. I don't want to subject everyone to my tongue in my boyfriend's mouth (you're welcome). I'm not saying that I'm annoyed they're taking pictures like this - I'm saying post ONE if you have to, but really, some things are meant to stay private.
What sparked this rant? A kid I used to babysit for just put up pictures of him basically groping some girl. He can't be more than fifteen. I used to tuck him in at night and read him Harry Potter! The last thing I want to see is him licking a little (I use "little" relatively- she looks his age), girl's face...which he was....
Am I alone in this? How do you feel about the abundance of make-out and over the top couple photos on Facebook?

its not that serious... you're looking at their pictures to hard.
Sometimes, those pictures are obnoxious.
awww...lol i think the real problem is the shock of him growing up. but otherwise the couple photos dont bother me. i think it's adorable
i hate makeout pictures. srslyyy
I feel the same way about
PDA!
Haha. I have TONS of pictures of me and my boyfriend goofing off... but none of them have made their way to Facebook. It's for me and him, not for anyone else.
What ever happened to framing your couple pictures for your home desk or bedside table? It's all online now...
They can do whatever they want.
i hate those kind of pictures too... and the stupid "i love you sooooooo much" comments i have to read EVERY day three or four times a day.
yep, i feel the exact same way.
and i feel the same about statuses that profess your love for your SO. if your profile says you are in a relationship with this person... we get it. instead of telling us you love them... tell the person instead.
I don't have Facebook. Thank god.
Most of my friends on Xanga and MySpace don't post up intimate pictures of that. They mostly post up pictures of them hugging their significant others, standing side by side, or the guy or the girl giving the other a peck on the cheek.
But if I do see pictures like that up, I'll be gross out as well. I mean, some things are just left alone and to the imagination. Har har.
i have a friend couple who's pics are updated monthly of them.. photoshopped and all that.
must say it is kinda sweet.. makes me feel sick sometimes because it's all so lovey-dovey etc..
but i can't help but feel a little jealousy. eep!! my relationship with my bf is still quite exclusive on facebook, only closer friends know and facebook doesn't give any hints.
to each his/her own.
It's obnoxious. Funny story, actually.. Two of my younger lesbian friends just got together about a month or so ago and EVERY SINGLE ONE of their statuses goes toward showing their love for one another (if you can even call it that). Every time I go on facebook, I see at least 3 or 4 different lovey-dovey status messages from them two toward each other and it makes me want to hurl.
I'm with you all the way! There's nothing like Facebook to remind me of my singleness... amazing.
Wow.
I think it's tacky. I dont mind tasteful shots of couples, even kissing photos can be nice without looking porno. At the risk of sounding like my mom, I'll say it because she's right. Pictures live forever online. You cant be too careful. Even though they can take your head & put it on someone else's body, you wont feel bad over that than if someone took one of your pictures & put it on a perverted site or the wrong person (aka: PARENT) sees them.
What also gets on my nerves is seeing people HALF my ate (i'm 22!!!!!!!!!!!!!) posting their love for their "baby" & all that stuff. My gosh...I'm NOT saying you cant like someone at that age or whatever but they're acting way older than they should. Makes me glad I grew up as the internet was coming up & not just dropped in the middle with all these things. My mother didnt sit over my shoulder to watch me but I knew what & what not to do.
Yeah it is kind of annoying. I mean, even if you don't look through their albums, it is still all over the feed. I don't really want to see someone's tongue shoved down someone's throat when I wake up or come back from somewhere. I think simplicity is cute, a hug, a romantic glance, or even a peck. There's nothing wrong with showing the world that you like/love someone. Just...everything in moderation, lol. You want people to 'aww', not want to stab you with a trident.
@nosupergirl@xanga - I agree with you on the status messages. I have a friend that professes her love damn near constantly, It's annoying. I mean sending a congrats or happy birthday to show you care is one thing though. But seeing "I LoVe y.ouuuu (INSERT NAME)!!!!" is a bit much.
Yeah
it's extremely annoying
*Shivers* I don't use Facebook but I can only imagine how gross that'd be.
i hate it. and i hate seeing my little cousins post pictures of them naked (with their arms or a towel coverin the essentials but still mass amts of cleavage shown) in bed with thier boyfriends, roses and candles everywhere. filth
i believe there are about a billion other things datingish could be posting instead of you being jealous that you and your boyfriend cannot take cute pictures.
