Have You Been to Planned Parenthood?
I was looking at the Planned Parenthood site today and wondered how many Datingish users have been there. Whatever your reason for going, what was your experience like? Would you recommend it to friends?

i havent been to planned parenthood for myself but for a family member. its slightly awkard, hahaha. b/c if u are there, people assume you are sexually active. and when ur not sexually active and u walk in there, you feel like theres a brand on ur forehead that says "deflowered" hahaha
but i rec for ppl who need guidance in the sex dept.
It's a good resource. It takes a lot of time but everyone there is really nice and helpful.
(And you get free birth control! How can you beat that?)
Haha this reminds me of a story..I haven't been to Planned Parenthood but we have exactly the same thing in New Zealand called "Family Planning"...lol, I went there when I was about 15 years old (I went with to support a friend who wanted to go) and we got stuck in the lift!! It just broke down as we were going up there..lol..out of all the places!! I was freaking out thinking "how am I going to explain this to my parents!!!"..ha ha.
Started working again after 10 mins or so fortunately!
Apart from that experience lol, I haven't been back, heard good things about it tho :)
I went there for birth control and got a year's supply of it free. =]
It was okay, except when I said I've been in an abusive relationship before, which happened five years ago, they said I have to report it to the police. They said the police would visit me so I could report it. I'm 19 now, and they never came to visit me.
sigh.......no.
I went there and I loved it. Everyone was unbelievably friendly, and I now have cheap monthly birth control, delivered to my house for free! I recommend it to everyone.
I went there for birth control, I got 3 months' supply, plus an annual exam, and 3 packs of Plan B (which I totally was not expecting) for free. Good experience I think. I hit just below an income bracket due to my internship ($10.00/hr), causing me to get the free benefits. That's in Minnesota though, could be different where ever you live.
No.
I have taken several teen girls there for various reasons. The free birth control being top of the list of reasons to take them. Like others said it can be slow but the workers are usually friendly and gentle with the girls.
I go there for birth control and exams.
For PlanB pills (me and friends) and for visits just to check that I'm all clean and good :D They are very nice here in Alaska.
I needed to go there one time but I was younger and didn't have a car. And no one else could take me.
This is Miami so I was hoping there would be a PP every corner or something but apparently it was far as hell. lol
I've never been there but my best friend has. She says that the wait is ALWAYS reallllllllly long, so you have to make sure that you don't have much going on that day. It does seem like a good resource though, just because they can provide you with cheap birth control/plan B, condoms, tests, etc. And they can give you the information you need if you have any questions. I don't think people really have bad experiences with the doctors there, at least not from what I've heard. The real downside is just the wait.Â
The last time I went to Planned Parenthood was when I was 18 and that was 11 years ago. Its great for those who need birth control and exams and whatnot. I'm glad they were there when I needed them.
im going this friday lol my friend is a virgin and she wants answer to some question she has
Yep.
Several times. Mostly for others, once for myself, they are pretty supportive and all the staff is non-judgmental. I DEFINITELY recommend them.
Yeah, I'd definitely recommend if you are or are planning to be sexually active. Be on time, though, as they might give your appointment spot away to someone else like they did with me when I was three minutes late.! hehe
I've been to PP, but only to accompany my sister. Â I was impressed, though, and would like to go back to that particular location. Â The problem is that it's across the state. Â :\ Â I'm too afraid to go to the closest PP to me because it's in a not-so-nice area of Detroit.
I took my friend to planned parent hood to get an abortion. Waste thing I have ever done in my life. It gives me nightmares sometimes.
yes, the women were nice, knowledgeable, not judgmental and it's a great resource for those without health insurance and are on a limited budget...better safe than sorry!
I have been there for myself and as moral support for friends. I have had nothing but good experiences - the people really know what they're doing and seem as if they really care that you're making informed decisions.
Yes... when I had clamydia back in college. It was not something I wanted treated at my Christian university's health center!!! I hated it there. It was my first time getting a pap done and getting on the pill...the lady that did everything to me was like some strict German nanny. very cold, direct and not at all gentle!
went there becuz i freaked out over a false alarm.
my insurance covers my birth control :]
yes. birth control and STI testing. awesome stuff.
I got for birth control, STI testing and exams. It's the shit.
