Myths and Realities of Dating Throughout Your Life
Middle School
Myth: ooh la la, lots of romance. Everyone gets their first kiss when they are 12 or 13!
Reality: everyone is really ugly and immature (braces, glasses, bad haircuts, before tweezers, big t-shirts & sweaters). "Wait for high school."High School
Myth: high school boys are more mature and beautiful = ooh la la, lots of romance.
Reality: high school boys = the same boys you knew in middle school. Except everyone got better looking. "Wait for college."College
Myth: boys in college are so much more mature and aggressive = lots of dates and ooh la la romance
What I'm afraid will be the reality: Immature party boys. "Don't worry, you'll meet lots of nice guys at work when you're older!"Job
Myth: many guys will ask you out because they are older and mature. Ooh la la, romance!
What I'm afraid will be the reality: eharmony.com, match.com

the "ooh la la romance" part is making me want to hang myself.
hahahahaha
This was so confusing.
I need some crackers.
@abcxunt@xanga - Wait a second, we'll jump on three.
haha...yeah, that about sums it up.
HAHAHAH
lol i am gg to live with dogs with some of my bffs then :p
Haha. I like the last one.
Omg hahaha, there's going to be a lot of cat ladies roaming around now.
Haha, these are pretty true! College is full of those boys who only want to party or still hang out with high school girls.
Lol!
This is funny!
HAHAHAH. That was cute.
And you're right, for the most part. I think it really depends on how lucky you get, though. Or where you go to school. My community college has, like, half of my graduating class, and some other people from my high school. It really is high school all over again. Except the English department sucks here.
Maybe your roommates will have cool friends they can introduce, or your co-workers will have have single, successful entrepreneurs? Haha. Good luck!
LOL
That's not how it happened for me at all. I guess I got lucky in high school.
LOL. You should have added this to the college bit, though: And obsessed with sex.
@xxthatsmexx@xanga - Mine too, mine too!! Ugh I hate it. =/
@sortingandforting@xanga - I know, seriously. It's ridiculous.
Wow, this is pretty much accurate. But I'm glad I snagged my guy at the end of senior year. He really beats all of these stereotypes. =) This is true for the most part except:
College boys are a little bit more mature than high school boys, because college teaches you how to survive on your own. My guy has already grown up so much from senior year, and we're only at the end of our freshman year. I guess it depends on the guy, really. I mean most college guys still play Call of Duty and XBOX Live, but hey, they're guys. The only advice I can give is to find yourself a guy who is serious about school, and who's main hobby isn't partying. Also, stay away from frat guys!!
---And pssh, I totally got my first kiss at eighteen. ;)
This is all true. I don't think match.com or eharmony is anything bad , but you just have to meet the person who is the exception. There's plenty of them. And for the record, there are equally terrible stereotypes of women at these ages as well. Just sayin'
lol..and the worst part is, although I've experienced myths #1-3, I am now in college and was seriously hanging out for myth #4!
This is sooo true. I wish someone told me all this BEFORE middle school. Haha. Me and my dashed hopes :(. I got my first kiss at 17!
ahah i love this post !
hahaa... i avoided dating in middle school and high school.. because i felt immature
and in college.. i was mature, but ... the guy... yea... immature party boys.. =T so now i fear the real world and job dating scene.. who knows~
you're pretty close with the college guys thing. Except that at some point (after freshman year) they realize they have to actually work on their degree and they kinda start to get their act together. College presents whole new catagories of guys you didn't know existed in high school. Typically, you develop new interests in college, then join a group with those interests and meet a guy there. It's not so bad.
LOL @ Ooh la la
