Miss ReindeerSometimes in life something happens to you that is too romantic, too bizarre or too perfect that you feel like you're in a movie. This happened to me on my solo trip to Barcelona about 2 years ago. I was walking along La Rambla, one of the main streets of the city, when this very attractive Spanish man approached me. Being a female traveling alone, I put my guard up telling him flat out that I was busy and didn't want to talk to him.
He didn't understand, so I told him in Spanish and it was from there that our conversation kicked off because he was super charming. At that time, I hadn't had a Spanish class in over a year, but my language ability really held up - I ended up spending the entire day with him speaking only in Spanish. He took me to the beach, bought me some ice cream and the day ended with a movie. I ensured we were always in a public place because even though I was having a good time, I wasn't about to be abducted by a strange man in a strange city. However, the whole day was just positively romantic and I was enjoying every second.
Everything out of his mouth was laced flattery and admiration for me.
When it started to get dark, I told him I had to leave even though I was still floating on cloud nine. He wanted to spend another day with me, but I was leaving the next day in the morning, so I told him we should just say goodbye.
What he said brought me back down to Earth. Roughly translated it went something like this:
You are my lady today and forever. How cheesy is that? I'm all for a bit of romance, but that was overkill. I still look back on that day quite fondly because it was one of those movie moments that happens only once in a blue moon. I certainly wasn't meant to be with that man, but I was for that day.
Did you ever have a "movie moment" with someone? Who was the person and how did you know them? What happened that made it so special?

Wow. I like that.
My "movie moment" was this:
I haven't seen my husband (then bf) for almost a year - he was deployed. When he came back, we spent a romantic afternoon together. After the deed, he lean forward to me, cupped my left cheek with his right hand and said, "You are beautiful," in the most calmest and believable voice I ever heard while he just stared into my eyes. It seems like time stopped.
I think there's a reason movie moments usually happen in the movies - think about most of the things that happen in romances and then imagine them actually happening to you. I mean, would you really take his sorry ass back just because he ran to catch you before your flight took off? I wouldn't.
That's not to say that they aren't really sweet when they do happen. I've had a few really romantic moments and they just make your day. :) *warm and fuzzy feelings*
I've only had one happen to me before. It was just one of those days when absolutely nothing went wrong with my boyfriend and it just seemed perfect. But if we had those moments all of the time, we would never really appreciate them.
That's so cute!
Fantastic story. I think "movie moments" happen all the time in the world; we just focus too much on the bad to notice them.
haha my whole life is an asian drama waiting to be depicted. haha
aww :))
Yah... they happen all the time with me and my SO. It's disgusting. haha
That's a really beautiful moment that you had, though!!! I'm kinda jealous :P
I envy you.It never happens to me.
That's really romantic and just plain nice. It leaves you with a great feeling.
I've had a couple "movie moments"...
One of them being on my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. We spent almost the whole day together & at dinner he sat next to me instead of across from me because he wanted to be close to me. & he was just so amazingly sweet.. kind of like he is a lot of the time. Idk, there was nothing TOO spectacular about it, but to me, it will always be special & I will always remember that day/night. :) It was an amazing one.
We are so lucky to have those moments where we can just look back on them & simply smile.
Let's try to not take them for granted. :)
♥
Ok, it is pretty cheesy. But in an adorable way! It is really sweet!
For me, I had a kind of cheesy moment in my freshman year of high school. My best guy friend ever was helping me get through a really rough break up. I spent 5-7 months just ranting to him about how much I hated my exboyfriend. One day I told him that I wished a guy would just listen to me because my X never listened to me and he said, "I've been listening for this long, and I am still waiting for you to hear how much I care for you." It was super lame but really sweet.
We've been dating for four years straight ever since.
I'm curious, how exactly did he say that in spanish? Things sound a lot cuter and flattering in spanish than in english to me, so I'm just wondering. x)
Ever seen the movie, Taken? You could have easily had a movie moment like that too.
I had a few. One was with my ex and we were laughing and kissing in the rain. He picked me up and almost flipped me over and brought me back up to kiss me. That whole night was pretty fun even though we were soaked and I had to go home!
Another was with my current boyfriend. We have been seeing each other a couple months and in the past few days, we have been having a few arguments. We finally see each other on New Years and we're talking in the car before we head in the diner. He tells me that "it's just us now. The honeymoon stage is over" and I'm thinking he's going to break up. Then all of a sudden he says "I think I'm in love with you" and I could feel my legs buckle together and I'm blushing immediately. Afterwards we both leaned in for a really amazing kiss. It was just so much more special after that.
And @coolmonkey@xanga - HAHAHAH
That is so cute!
The day I saw my boyfriend after four months of basic training for the Army at his graduation was a movie moment. The last picture in this entry: http://www.xanga.com/italktotrees/692698042/item/ says it all, I think :)
Our first kiss was just like it should've been in the movies, too. I had never been kissed, and he had spent the day at my house. I was walking him out to his car, and he kissed me on the forhead, like always, then kissed the tip of my nose. Then, he held my hands, and looked into my eyes, and said, Can I kiss you? I said yes, super quietly, then he shook his head, and said no - he wanted to save it for a special time. He turned to open his car door, then spun around and laid one on me, dipping me back just like they do in the movies. I couldn't ask for a more perfect first kiss :)
heh I had a whole movie story. And at the end, it really bit. Real life versus fantasy? Sometimes it's hard to know whether art is a reflection or life, or life is a reflection of art.
Aw, this was cute. Good thing you were on your guard though. ;)
Im still waiting for my movie moment. :)
That's retarded. Only girls would dream of something with no depth. The guys who liked that anecdote are not really guys. Yes I am talking to you "Roadlesstaken." You're pretty effeminate, and not in a good way.
That is super sweet! My "movie moment" had to be my husbands and my first kiss. We were watching fireworks on the beach at the summer camp where we worked (and met). There was moonlight and it was just super romantic. We're still not sure who leaned in first..lol.
I think those kinda moments are the best because you can look back on them and just feel all warm and fuzzy!
i've had a few with my current boyfriend.
last year on valentine's day, i got to school a little later than usual and had to hurry to my locker so i wouldn't be late to my first class. when i opened my locker, i saw a single red rose, a card and a valentine's day box of ferrero rochers, my favorite candy. i melted instantly, dropping my backpack right there, haha. a few days earlier, he had asked for my locker combination so he could store one of his books in there; it was just part of his plan. =} and the other plus to that situation was that, even though i was late to class, my advisor let it slide because she thought his gesture was really sweet too.
this past summer i went to the philippines for three weeks, coming back roughly 10 days before i was supposed to leave for college. the night i got home, my boyfriend came over immediately. when he texted me "here" and i stepped out my front door, he ran out of the car, up to me, and hugged and kissed me. we got into his car after a moment and the stereo was playing "without you here" by the goo goo dolls, one of the most meaningful songs i put onto a mix cd as part of his birthday present before i left.
annnnnnnnd this past weekend was my first weekend home from school in seven weeks. we spent saturday night together in a hotel in ocean city, md. we woke up and just stared at each other for a while before he said "you're beautiful" and ran his fingers through my hair. i could have died. =}
That's cute! I bet you had sweet dreams your entire plane ride home, huh?!
My movie moment:
a year ago, my (now) SO and I pretty much despised each other. Six months ago, he had a party, I somehow wound up there, and we got to talking, hit it off, and after everyone left his place, we stayed up until 5 in the morning slow dancing in his garage. We were both on Cloud Nine and amazed at the transformation of our hearts - one day we hated each other, and the next we couldn't deny the chemistry between us. He gave me a kiss on my forehead while holding me close, dancing - and it was then that he stole my heart. A man who makes a respectable move like that definitely catches my attention. it was the most amazing night ever, and i will never ever forget it!
My senior year in highschool I was in a very emotionally involved relationship with this fellow. As the school year ended we said our goodbye's with regrets of coulda woulda shoulda's. Three years went by and out of the blue I heard from him and we started right where we left off...it was soo very romantic at the time with each date and words and such.
But it quickly ended because he was selfish pig and was glad that unanswered prayers well maybe answered in this case brought me to what I truly wanted.
I also had another boyfriend who lied to me on our anniversary and said he had to work when in reality he didn't and he was at my window with a dozen of my favorite color roses in the rain.
And...I guess I would have to say meeting my current boyfriend 2 years ago.
Haha, aw! Veryyy cute.
hehe =) i have my own fond memories
