  • My SO Sent Me Flowers at Work

    Miss Elephant

I've only had flowers sent to me three times in my life. One time was with J, the second time with A (which he delivered in person), and the most recent time was today with A again, but this time he had them shipped to my office. I've never actually had flowers sent to me at work before, but I've always thought it was kind of an awkward thing. First, everyone sees as the delivery person brings the flowers to you, then everyone feels compelled to say things like, “AWWW HOW SWEET!!!1” or “Ohhhh someone sent you flooooweeerss!” I'm very private about my personal relationships, so this kind of attention is generally not something I relish.

The gesture itself was really sweet. I have been having a hard week, having some conflicts with my friends, and, yes, a couple big fights with A about stupid stuff. It was a total surprise, and it shows that he was thinking about me and just wanted to try to make me feel better; also they're tulips, my fave, so it shows he's been listening. However, I still felt awkward with all my coworkers looking at me and wondering who sent me flowers. Maybe I'm just uncomfortable being the center of attention. Ha! False.

Has an SO ever sent you flowers to your place of work? Did you think it was sweet or embarrassing?

Nobody's done that for me, but I understand your sheepishness. I think you should show him a nice gesture in return. =]

    she goes. PFT. WHY? NO!

uh. cuhs it's my birthday :(

    Then I come home..

THE WHOLE FUCKING LIVING ROOM WAS FILLED WITH VASES OF FLOWERS EVERYWHEREEEEEEEEE

    and balloons. cards

omg...i felt so loved..and these were sent from ppl from out of state..DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT SHIT ALL COST TOGETHER !!

    These Were Expensive

I have, once. And I was TOTALLY uncomfortable, but that's because they were from someone I wasn't dating who just WANTED to date me, despite my lack of desire to date them... *sigh*

Anyway, I think the concept in general is nice... as long as it's infrequent. I don't want to get flowers every week, or even every month, but it is nice to feel loved and be able to sort of show it off. I like having a SO that people are impressed with - I don't want to be the co-workers I have who do nothing but complain about their loser (read: lazy, jobless, bum-er-ific) SOs... and hey, maybe they'll realize there's good ones out there too, and it will inspire them to "go for the gold!" Or something.

Were the flowers delivered as an actual bouquet?  The last time I sent flowers they delivered it in a box.  Do they even deliver flowers in actual bouquets, like the movies?

  • chPanda@xanga

I love flowers, but my boyfriend thinks they are a waste of money because they don't last.  The only time I get flowers is on our anniversary.

  • jeezshoua@xanga

My husband (bf then) had sent me flowers on Valentine's Day or my birthday at home but never at my workplace.  I mean, back then I worked at a fast food restaurant so it'll be weird if he sent them there.  Lmao.

But that was sweet of your guy.  You're in his thoughts and he probably want to show others that he really do care for you.  =)

  • SteamyDumpling@xanga

My boyfriend, on our first date, brought a bouqet of flowers. It was just soooo sweet of him. He doesn't like public attention either, like you, however, so he told me it was kind of hard for him get through the public eye to get it to me. hahaha!

  • UnopenedSuitcases@xanga

he just wants to not only show you, but also others of his affection towards you. plus usually girls like the attention so guys thought it's be a cool thing to do

  • coolmonkey@xanga

All those girls in your office hate you when you get those flowers.  Not only that, they bitch out their boyfriends when they get home, which only makes the rest of us disgruntled.  Your boyfriends suck!

  • Shy___Away@xanga

It was a lovely gesture, but I found it very embarrassing and awkward. =/

  • naguyin@xanga

Psh. If they didn't shoot them down.
I'd rain flowers down on her neighborhood. :D
    LOL.

@babyblue5201314@xanga - Yeah, I agree. We do want others to know how much we love our SO's.

  • aznsam999@xanga

randomly giving a bouquet of flowers to someone is better

  • XxFireXboltxX@xanga

My husband, before we got married, showed up at work and handed me flowers and said "I just saw these and thought you'd like them."

It was so random and I loved that he delivered them! :D

  • kusakusakiwi@xanga

it happened to me once by a guy i had absolutely no interest in. it was awkward, uncomfortable, and embarrassing. T_T

  • ECULadybug2003@xanga

My husband is all about getting me flowers, either hand delivered or delivered at work (when I was working) or home.  I get them for anniversaries and birthdays and Valentines, but also just because he was thinking about me.  I think it's really sweet and it always made me feel special to get flowers at work cause it made some people jealous..lol.  He also does things like Edible Arrangements (the fruit baskets that look like flowers and stuff) because it's something that I could share with other people and him.  I love that he does that kinda stuff and think any guy that does is a real keeper!

  • LiLbabeSwT@xanga

    *coughs* AWWWWWWW HooooWWWWW SWEEETTTTTT

Anyway, no, but my SO did bring a dozen of roses on valentine's day one time to my school.
He also bought flowers for me on valentine's day, roses again, he said valentine's day is not complete w/o roses.

    I just love roses.

I didn't feel embarrassed, I was just really surprised, and happy that he did that. He doesn't buy me flowers to cheer me up, he buys me my favorite food instead (which I love even more).

What is even better is when he showed up at my doorstep, took me out to my favorite diner, and helped me ordered my favorite food when I was having a rough week.

That's when I know he pays attention to the details, and he's a keeper

  • comet555@xanga
My guy used to send me flowers at work often. I loved it.
  • DarcKleer@xanga

No one's ever done that for me before but I know I'd be the same way as you. I'm very private as well and don't like to broadcast my personal life at work. I have a co-worker who would be that typical douche bag saying "OMMMMGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!! YOU GOT FLOWERSS!!!!!! WHO ARE THEY FROM!!?!!?!" Another co-worker of mine got flowers from a friend on her bday last year and the idiot co-worker reacted like that. I felt bad for the flower receiving co-worker b/c she's pretty private as well. Honestly, if the idiot weren't here I don't think I'd mind too much if someone sent me flowers. Everyone else I work with wouldn't act like her.

  • icecrepas@xanga

one birthday, she showed up at work.

    i would've preferred flowers (and i'm a red-blooded male).

    yeaaaah.

    =/

  • raspberryjade@xanga

    I think it is sweet!

you should enjoy it, it means your fights with A are dissolving, and the jerks you were fighting with at work are now immediately jealous.. haha!

  • mywordsx@xanga

    Aww, that's cute :D .

I've never recieved flowers before though ;P .

  • Rhapsodical_Hazie@xanga

I'm jealous because I've never received flowers from a boy in general. :( So I wouldn't know how to feel in your position since to me, I would LOVE to receive flowers.... TT 3TT

  • JouaMua@xanga

When I dated my ex fiance...he would send me flowers monthly on our day. But he never sent it to work. But when I got home...there was always a bouquet of my favorite flowers on the table waiting for me.

  • LiLBallz16@xanga

I had my boyfriend send me flowers to my part-time job last Valentine's Day. It was really awkward because they got there like 2 hours before I even got there since I had school. Then my creeper boss, who is like 70, kept commenting on me "returning the favor". It was the most awkward 2 weeks. Then I quit haha. Made everything a lot easier.

    • About Me: I'm pretty bad at relationships, but I try really hard. I love writing, blogging, reading, eating, exercising, and sexing. That list is not all inclusive. My Ideal SO is someone who challenges me. That's just about the only requirement, aside from the basics: being sweet, caring, loving, supportive, funny, all that stuff. Being adventurous in bed doesn't hurt either.
