My Favorite Depressing Love Song, Part II
In light of the Leona Lewis "Best You Never Had" blog, I immediately thought about this song. It's great to know that almost everybody turns to music for some sort of emotional outlet. This song held great importance for me while I was in my last relationship, and it still does now.I mean, who hasn't invested their energy into something only to realize that it was slowly slipping away? I'm not afraid to admit that, while driving, I completely broke down into tears when I first heard this song. I know, totally safe for the drivers around me, right? But nevertheless, music has been my savior. It's the much needed comfort and expression that I think everybody could use extra doses of every now and then.
And since this song basically refers to wasted energy on a disintegrating relationship, I'm reminded of a quote that significantly touched me when I read it:
"A relationship is like glass: sometimes it's better to leave it broken than to hurt yourself trying to put it back together."

In every heartbreak or disappointment that I have experienced, the only thing that has never let me down was music. The genre does not matter. It's all about the lyrics, the melody and the soul of the artist. My last break up, I cried when I heard Pink's "Who Knew" because it summed up everything that him and I had been through.
Recently, there has been a couple of songs that really got me through things. A song called "Thinking about You" by Radiohead and a song called "Love is a losing game" by Amy Winehouse. Amazing music, so check it out if you can.
i know what you mean. i frequently turn to Anna Nalick's "Breathe (2AM)" to remind myself that everything will be fine. i also like "My Stupid Mouth" and "How Much It Hurts" by John Mayer.
@desertrose2890@xanga - "Who Knew", yes, i agree. that was my last relationship as well. right now Rascal Flatts' "Winner At A Losing Game" is more accurate than i'd like
@littlebitty8907 - I love that Anna Nalick song. Its such a perfect song when one is driving alone at 2 AM...Im glad someone else recognized the awesomeness of that song.
I love that quote. Thanks for posting. I need it.
So true!
Music heals the broken soul or at least.. comfort you.
"When everything feels like the movies, yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive"
That's the line that makes me think of my previous heartbreak.
It describes my last relationship exactly. I love Leona Lewis.. I can relate to all her songs.
Awww, yay. I <3 people who truly appreciate the power of music. =]
The song I'm referring to in this blog is Keri Hilson - Energy. Do any of you know it?
For me it's got to be Brian Mcknight's "One Last Cry." :) oxo.
"Almost Lover", by A Fine Frenzy is one of my fave depressing songs. It's beautiful
"You Were My Everything" - Aviation....a little too asian, but the lyrics hold meaning, and I can definitely relate to them...one of the saddest songs I've ever owned
@dollfacedlynne@xanga - my favorite line of ALL time. Goo Goo Dolls - Iris. The most beautiful song ever.
One of my boo-hoo break up songs is:
My Pleasant Torture - Ill Nino
And the following are other songs:
Miserable at Best - Ill Nino
This Flesh is Tomb - Atreyu
Forever - As I Lay Dying
Seventy times Seven - Brand New
But of course I do agree with:
@desertrose2890@xanga - that song carried me through my last break up. I understand exactly what you see in it.
@Celticwhistler@xanga - that song can make anyone cry. I love it.
@dollfacedlynne@xanga - You are so right. That line is so beautiful and I have always loved that song...great choice of song!
Nothing compares 2 U by Sinead O'Conner is my favorite depressing love song. That song just makes me tear up whenever I hear it.
Wreck of the Day -- Anna Nalick
Wish You Were -- Kate Voegele
Teardrops on My Guitar -- Taylor Swift
Goodbye My Lover -- James Blunt
Better Than Me -- Hinder
Your Guardian Angel -- Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
