What's A Semi-Fiancé?
Three second MTV recap: This week, Real World housemate Devyn had her "semi-fiancé" David to the house for a visit. David doesn't know, though, that Dev is also seeing Jim. The guys in the house are offended that Devyn's playing both of them, so they prank her and the rest of the girls in the house.
Have you ever heard or used the term semi-fiancé? What the hell does it mean?

okay --- i could be wrong. but when you say "fiance", it is when you are engaged to someone. how can you be "semi-engaged"?
I don't get it. :(
Semi-fiance? No. But my guess is that it means "more serious than boyfriend/girlfriend, has a lot of potential for the future, and not easily separated". Though she has NO right to use that term referring to the guy she's cheating on.
I know. I had to laugh when I read that term on the information page. WTF is a semi-fiance? I felt for that poor guy when he was sitting there, unknown to her boyfriend.
Hmm...I think it's where they discussed that they would be marrying each other but they haven't had the actual proposal yet.
I'm thinking she's actually engaged, but she's cheating therefore that is what she calls it.
"Semi - fiance" = "The douche bag only gave me a promise ring"
@Ayliana87@xanga - hahahha!
i felt so bad for David. he can do much better than that two-timer.
Xo
it's her way of feeling like less of a cheating whore
semi fiance...maybe it means almost engaged?
No no, she calls him that to make him happy. She hung on to him because he supported her financially. She obviously doesn't love love him otherwise she would be proud that she was engaged and wasn't flirting with other men so much. Weird situation. She needs to cut him loose. However, he is weird for staying with her even though she doesnt treat him the best. I guesss! haha
The way I see it, a semi - fiance is the rebound guy who wants to have a committed relationship with an open relationship girl.
That's sad.
She wants to have her cake and eat it too.. in other words.
I have no idea what that term means...
Maybe she just wanted to brag that someone proposed to her and she has him, but she doesn't really want him. Because in "reality" there's not a true commitment, you can see that by the fact that she's dating someone else. When they get married will she call him her "semi-husband"?
what the heck is a semi-finance?
"I'm sort of engaged.. but I can still date others? .. So techincally I'm not ?"
O_O ?
She doesn't really want to be engaged but she just said yes because he's giving her money and she wants a different ring.... is what i took from it.
Never heard the term. Sounds pretty convenient.
It just means they are semi-committed
...which could also mean they are semi-retarded.
I, too, was confused about her "semi-fiance."

LMAOOO.
I have actually used the phrase before. My boyfriend and I know we are getting married and we're constantly planning stuff as if we were engaged, but he has not officially proposed yet (I mean, he's said, "I'm going to marry you" and I said, "the feeling's mutual!", but nothing to seal the deal yet). We're in an engaged relationship - looking ahead to our wedding, life after, etc.
:S
That's stupid.
Never heard that.
Sounds like someone just wants to sound cool.
It isn't working.
I have no idea.. Maybe something like, "This person is a possibility. I'm going to say they're only semi though, in case I find somebody better."
Or in this case if she decided to go for the other guy.
I can hear it now, "Will you semi-marry me?"
"Can we have semi-kids?"
Wow.
semi-fiance? That's like partially pregnant.
