On Getting A Hickey
This is a guest question submitted by j3anN1n3s0.When a person gives someone a hickey, it isn't for their pleasure; it's for the person they are giving it to, right?
Does that mean hickeys and the people giving them are significant because you aren't doing it for yourself?

Not a chance I know. Last I gave one, my then girlfriend said it looked like a vampire bit them.
Hehe!
But perhaps, it's their gift to prove they actually done something with someone. Something crazy. Just know I got word it doesn't work so well on those with Afro-American skin.
It doesn't necessarily mean they are significant to them. They just want them to feel good.
I give them to my boyfriend so that other girls know that he has a girlfriend or at least that he's getting some.... I like when he gives them to me so I guess it's just something that people like to do.
it just feels good..lol not that i would know.
i leave bite marks. never hickeys.
hickies are fun to give and get. more to give i think. you get to feel sexy, and then your guy/girl gets some pleasure... which makes me happy. haha
I'm not sure what the question is but, I like biting her neck and I'm sure she likes it because her eyes go crazy and she starts that weird breathing pattern like..*ahem* sex.
Right. I hope I've answered this question.
Hickeys are disgusting. If anyone ever tried to give one to me, I'd slap them. You're bruising your significant other. That's awful. It sounds painful, and when people see, you're seen as a slut.
That's in no way pleasurable or loving to me.
i think they're trashy...
Neck kissing with even a little biting is sexy to me...but I'd pass on the hickeys. I think it's kind of embarrassing for everyone to see it.
I sort of see people who like to give hickeys as equivalent to branding a cow (no offense to the one receiving). It's like a mark of ownership to me, as if to tell the person receiving, "You're mine." It's romantic to some I guess.
I think hickeys are for high schoolers. As you get older, you should be mature enough and skilled enough to show your lust/ affection/ whatever without leaving a hickey. Besides, hickeys hurt.
I love neck kissing, biting, and even a little hickey. But so long as noone sees it, I'm good. It's personal, and I don't think it should be for the world to see.
hickeys are fun to get... it sucks when people can see them though... luckily i figured out how to get rid of them pretty fast.
I wouldn't say it means the other person is significant.... a lot of the stuff done when making out is for the pleasure of the other person. They usually expect to get some 'pleasure' back though.
@sweettwistedsyndromesystem@xanga - I completely agree
It has been my experience that my exes gave them to me as a form of marking territory. It is just a way for them to feel secure and in power, which I personally think is very sad.
@Tiger11007@xanga - I totally agree. My boyfriend (at the time) enjoyed giving hickeys far more than I enjoyed having to hide them. This may have been because everyone was constantly saying I was out of his league. I'm sure some people like receiving them, but I think it's often a sign of insecurity in the giver.
Sometimes they're for fun.
Sometimes they're funny. [I don't even bother hiding them anymore... it's a joke w/ my friends after someone believed I got hit in the neck by a door, and someone else thought I was in a car accident after I had a chain of them kinda like a seatbelt burn.)
Sometimes they're a sign of marked territory.
It depends when/how/where.
My bf and I usually only do it a) to be silly or b) on accident [by him] when he is being extremely passionate b/c I bruise easily. Which sometimes hurt.
Occasionally he'll mention how he wants to give me one when we go see guys I know so they're "aware I'm in a relationship" but he never actually does. Especially after my sister grilled him about an accidental hickey he left on me when they all first met.
Hickeys seem to be a high school thing. Maybe even in college. I had hickeys all the time in my late teens/early twenties. Now that I'm older, I'm somewhat embarrassed that I had hickies but they were the thing to have, I guess.
@MakinzyKrysteen@xanga - Yep, I agree with you!
@sweettwistedsyndromesystem@xanga - me too...they look hideous!
@BlackSunshine7@xanga - I had only one in my entire life -- it lasted for 30 mins so in a sense you're right lol
Yay for hickey proof dark skin!
how bout we just play a game of pleasure instead of marking and lots of concealer?
Personally, I don't get the point of a hicky
I think it would be very painful. I mean, bruises, broken blood vessels...in your neck? sounds soo romantic to me...NOT.
@BlackSunshine7@xanga - tehehe it does if you know how to give them the right way. tehehe
Personally I find pleasure in giving hickies. Well not hickeys but the way a hickey is given. ^_^. FUN FUN You feel special that you are the person that is giving them pleasure and that is giving them what others or not and it makes you feel better and it lets you feel more empowered and have more fun. As long as it's in a discreet place on the body.
Leaving them in places where people can see them is just wrong though. I know women that do that just so that their boyfriend can't won't be able to go out with others. I've personally done that once because the guy was being an ass. So I figured I'd let his friend get on his case. By the time I was through with him he looked like he'd gotten beat up by me. It's funny because he was jamaican. xDD
