a recent post, many of you commented that any guy who said "aight" would never actually be worth the OP's time or effort. I totally agree with you guys and want to know what other words coming from guys'/girls' mouths are red flags for you.
Bro? Dude? Babe? Tight? (oh, "tight"...I remember its reign over my high school class)
"Chill" as an adjective is also pretty horrendous.

Haha. My ex used all of those words...
Tight.
Excessive use of the word, "like" is a huge red flag...
maybe because i have an English degree I'm a bit of a snob, but if you can't form a sentence in proper English, i don't want to talk to you. if i don't want to talk to you, then i don't want to be in a relationship with you.
I'm okay with "babe" in small doses, unless i met you two minutes ago. the rest of those words are awful. Also, "yo"...if you use "yo" at the end of every sentence...well I can't talk to you, either.
I'm from an incredibly white suburb, and it would annoy me even more when incredibly white suburban kids would try to talk in "ghetto speak" like they knew what they were talking about.
My boyfriend doesn't say "aight" but he used to text his own variation of it (iight) when he wasn't very happy about something. It was like saying "Fine, even though I don't want you to."
My bf is PERFECT. (everyone say hi to him, he's imaginary, only i can see him). maybe "hey dawg", I dont know why but that rubs me the wrong way. That's "ill" or "sick"... I never understood those.
Bro.
I hate that word even more than wifey or mama/mami. Anyone who says it sounds about 5x more dumb than they really are (unless they think it's an acceptable word...than they really are just that dumb).
@eyesochinky@xanga - /waves at eyesochinky's boyfriend =)
@leaflesstree@xanga - Hahaha English majors unite! I feel the exact same way!
@AnonymousBlonde@xanga - he said hi back! i told him no flirting lol
ugh if anybody used those on us we'd be like "... ehheh, no."
@eyesochinky@xanga - lol, no worries! I wouldn't flirt with your man, not my style lol.
@leaflesstree@xanga - Oh yes. As an English major myself, proper grammar and proper English in general is a must. I'll admit, there are rules i'll break, I say babe even now and again and ditto to your last paragraph but I usually stick to writing coherently (if not well).
I also can't stand it when people TyPe LyKe ThIs. It makes me want to kill someone.
excessive use of "like" is definitely annoying.
kthxbai and its variants are also on my list of stupid things people shouldn't say in order to avoid seeming obnoxious.
I think "babe" or "baby" is nice. (This is reinforced by the fact that Hank Green, at the Ann Arbor, MI gathering, when his wife Katherine came in the room said, "Hey, baby." And it was about the cutest thing ever. Literally, ever.)
If you don't know what half of that means, search "Hank Green" on google. :)
Strrraaaiiiggghttt.
Or
"That's so gayyyy"
my ex and I called each other "babe." maybe that's a red flag I missed.
- saying "um" in a bitchy tone.
ex: "I like turkey." "um... I don't."
I hate it when people say "aight" based on the sole fact that I cant say it. It just always comes out wrong. My ex boyfriend was always trying to teach me how to say it. Now I resent that word.
a'ightamundo
1. Naawwww or naaah
2. ...you know? or ...you know what I mean?
I am sure there are more... Goodness gracious.
"I feel you/ya". Even as a guy, that pisses me off.
I'm no English major, but I think most of the words can be said gently if they're said in a nice tone (Linguistics major lol). But I guess...oh wait!
"I guess" is a bad one, right? It's like, are they sure? unsure? what's up?
or "whatever". "I guess" and "whatever"---I don't think these can be used very nicely. Especially if they're used together in the same sentence. "I guess .....whatever."
"true true"
Holy Hell how I hate that shit!
ex: "I was too tired to wake up early enough to go with them."
"Oh, true true"
STFU!!!!
I absolutely HATE it when people SAY chat abbreviations. There's a girl I work with who actually says "lol" and "ttyl". Whenever she says them I want to scream!
Then there's the ever popular "NOOB"! Just stop already, please.
I'm so over-exposed to all those words (and more) because of playing World of Warcraft that very little bothers me now. Â "Nub" (a variation of noob) took me a long time to get used to, as did "kthxbai", but I don't even blink when I see them now. Â I've become desensitized to chatspeak.
Using "like" all the time while speaking is something I can never get used to, though.Â
1. Anywayz
2. Any kind of ghetto slang
3. Excessive and or unnecessary use of curse words
But I hate people that use the word "Gay" as a way to say something is stupid
